These pages contain several petitions and numerous affidavits on behalf of
Ralph Crawforth Anderson. It starts May 2, 1792 with a petition of Henry
Anderson and Francis Anderson on behalf of their brother, Ralph Crawforth
Anderson, to the judges of Clarksburg, the General Court, sitting in the
district of Richmond, Virginia. Ralph Anderson was sentenced to die by
the District Court of Richmond for the murder of a William Green.

Enclosed in the above papers were numerous affidavits as to the insanity
of Mr. Ralph Anderson and petitions for his pardon. Page 533 of the above
source tells us the outcome:

"At a District Court held in Richmond the 12th day of April, 1792, Ralph
Crawford Anderson, labourer, late of the county of Chesterfield, who stands
convicted of murder, was sentenced by the Court to be hanged by the Sheriff
of Henrico County, on Friday the Eighteenth day of May next, between the
hours of ten in the forenoon and two in the afternoon of the same day."
