Hi Everyone,
Besides Angus, I also subscribe to the Lancashire rootsweb list. If you think Angus is busy, the Lancslist is something else! If you go away for 3-4 days you have over 400 emails waiting for you when you return along with a message from your ISP server (I'm kidding). I'll be sure to unsubcribe before I leave next time.
There was an email from this list waiting for me when I returned yesterday about a website which is based on the LDS' IGI site which I'm sure the "seasoned" genealogists among us are familiar with. However, for someone like me who has been delving into genealogy for only several months now, it's terrific. The site says, "it's (the LDS) not always easy to locate your ancestors (even if they are there in the IGI) using the search mechanisms provided by that site". This site, run by Hugh Wallis is about IGI Batch Numbers - British Isles and North America for Births and Marriages. He also mentions another "batch site" which he finds effective.
