Thomas Fyfe b 19/11/1789 by family tradition died at Calcutta India of

Above thanks to
"Provost, Gilbert" <> (again thanks)
So death before 1835 seems probable!
Mary b 30/6/1797 survived to 24 Jan 1895, and her death certificate
shows Wm. Thos. Fyfe, grandson as the informant, address 2 Dalhousie
Terrace Dundee. The IGI includes 3 daughters only. Recently a letter
written by "Margaret" to my father in 1951 came to hand and included:-
"On the other side-the Grand father was a Captain Thomas? Fyfe who was
part owner of his ship, and died of fever in Calcutta. As far as I can
gather their house was in Dundee (West End I think) and there were three
children. Our Grandmother Agnes Grieve, her sister Charlotte, and a
brother William. This William Fyfe was cashier in Lilybank foundry. He
was lame-having had some sort of accident in his youth. We don't seem
to know whom he married, but there were two children, a son William- He
was an auctioneer-(I suppose in Dundee, and married a daughter of a
Captain Fairweather-I think!) of Newport,-we don't seem to know about
his offsprings if any. The daughter Mary-became a Mrs. Robertson-and
died a few years ago in Dundee-no family."
A check by Ian A.McDougall (again thanks) of the 1881 census for Dundee
produced only one (unlikely) candidate at
64 Lilybank Road. Wednesday 3rd July logged on to www.origins.net, paid
the £6 for access and searched the 1891 census. Therein:-
