I found a resource at an Ashby website: Here is the URL:

This begins with Thomas Ashby of VA who died around 1779, I think. He was
the father of Capt John Ashby who served under Washington and was married
to the rather notorious Jean Combs (Gen Washington wrote a letter to her
husband telling him he had better curb his wife.) Other children are
listed, including Elizabeth who is the one, I am sure, who married John
Stacy, my connection with the Ashby line. There are about 3 generations
given, as I recall, for each of the original offspring of Thomas. I was
thrilled as I had searched near and far for my elusive Eliz. Ashby ggg,
etc. gm.
