Thank you to all those who replied to my John WHITESIDE query. He
doesn't seem to have existed. He was supposed to have died in Sidney of
consumption (TB) on Nov 23, 1853 but there is no record in BMD's.

Anyway, thank you again & please keep me in mind if you run across him
in your travels.
