Just re-posting my NSW interests:
Samuel NIXON, s/o William Nixon and Mary Ann Rowledge of Rugby, WAR, was
transported for highway robbery in 1818. His brother Thomas was transported
the following year, and both worked for William Cox jnr and Windsor. Samuel
had a common-law wife variously known as Frances FOLEY, Elizabeth NIXON or
Elizabeth JOHNSON (my belief is that her real name was Foley, Johnson was an
alias under which she was tried and transported, and Nixon was assumed
because of her relationship with Samuel). They had four children, the
eldest of whom, Samuel, settled near Mudgee and married Charlotte RAYNER,
whom I have taken to be the d/o of the William RAYNER and Mary Ann HARDING
who were married at Risby, SFK on May 18 1833. William may have had a
brother called Samuel, who worked with the Nixon brothers at Windsor.
Frances FOLEY aka Eizabeth JOHNSON appears to have died in 1832, and Samuel
NIXON subsequently married Ellen CONNORS from Ireland: they had a large
family, descendants of whom still live around the Windsor/Richmond/Penrith
areas. Ellen died in 1849 and Samuel married for a third time, but there
was no issue.
Cheers,
Satima
