Just thought you might enjoy this one.
Overheard a conversation at my local FHS today between a researcher and a
volunteer helper.
It went something like this.
Volunteer (referring to researcher's notes):-"Why is this family line
crossed out on your notes?"
Researcher:-"Well my cousin went all the way to a family reunion at ......
He paid a lot of money for airfares and accomodation and expected to come
away with a lot of new information to add to his family tree and meet lots
of new family members.
The only trouble was that after he had been at the reunion for a few hours
and was thoroughly enjoying himself meeting all sorts of lovely
people, having a few drinks and a nice lunch he suddenly realised that this
particular family had nothing whatsoever to do with his own family."
At this point there was dead silence in the FHS and then suddenly most
people saw the funny side and there were shrieks of laughter from all the
other researchers plodding away at their own family research.
It certainly lightened up the day for us all.
Best wishes to you all
