Hi everyone

As I've been having some trouble with my emails recently I am not sure whether the
message I posted a couple of days ago reached the list. I would like some advice
please regarding Sands Sydney Directory.

I am trying to track down George John ASHTON, the grandfather of an elderly
neighbour. He arrived in Auckland from Sydney aboard the Waihora on 7 June 1897
with his wife Catherine and three children.

A friend of mine was recently in Sydney and looked up the "Sands Sydney & NSW
Directory. She found the following references:

1894 Fiche No. 229 P.519 - 549 Alpha List
Ashton, George 34 Cumberland Street

1895 Fiche No. 241 P.495 - 559
ASHTON, GEORGE 34 CUMBERLAND ST

1896 Fiche No. 251 p.423
ASHTON, George 426 Bourke Street

1897 Fiche No. 262 P.560
ASHTON, George 12 Little Norton St

Nothing in 1898.

I am quite excited about these references but as I am not familiar with the
directory could someone kindly tell me if there is some way I can find out more
about this George Ashton to see whether he could be "ours".

Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
