Hi Cindy
Try some more conbinations of henry,on the BDMs,ie children
born findout where then also his occupation,if he travelled some off these
guys do dissapere I have one I cant find his death anywhere, also post a
querie on the AusVic-Goldfields-L list and ask for a death lookup and a
inquest lookup just in case,Im not sure about NSW but the widow on
remarrying or dying should state when she was widowed, also try other name
combo's ie Melton,if he died away from home someone that did not know him
well could have been the informant,I dont trust the AVRI it misses to many
people most of mine are not there but on Vic Digger they all are, when you go
to NSW online try the surnames of the parents only and see if that brings
anything up ,you may have to troll thrugh a lot og people but you could get
lucky.
Happy Hunting
Regards
Ed McDonald

> LOST/ MISSING GREAT-GREAT GRANDFATHER, HENRY MILTON! Advice and
suggestions desperately needed in finding him! His movements I know of:
>
> 1. Arrived Sydney 1855 from England, aboard vessel "Speedy" with wife Jane
Milton born Shipway and infant daughter, Mary Jane Milton. They were
sponsored Immigrants. Moved to Maitland and stayed there until 1860. Moved
back to Sydney and stayed in Woollahra from 1861 to 1877.
>
> 2. Henry MILTON appears in the Sydney Sands Directory from 1867 to 1877.
Thereafter there is no mention of him and it appears has slipped off the
face of the earth!!! Only his wife, Jane Milton is mentioned in the
directory from 1878-1900.
>
> 3. In 1884, his wife, Jane MILTON purchased land at Wright St. Croydon and
lives here until her death in April, 1902. The Date of Grant of Certificate
of Title for the land at Lot 5 of Section 5 of Plan 369 in the County of
Cumberland being an area of 22 3/4 perches was February 1883.
>
> 4. Henry Milton is not on the Electoral Roll for 1903 and he is not on the
on- line NSW B/D/M/ indexes or on the AVRI for NSW, Tasmania, Victoria and
WA. He is not buried with his wife, Jane Milton at Rookwood, daughter Bertha
Annie also at Rookwood and son Arthur William at Camperdown.
