Hi List,
just to help with the confusion. There are very few Australian Census's or
Musters left. I know there is one for SA for 1841 & that is about it. The
census records that people are referring to are those of the British Isles.
The earliest ones are very vague having almost no information other than a
name.
The first one of any vague is the 1851 of which the only way to search it is
to trawl through reels of Microfilm. There is a small portion of the 1851 on
Cd but it only covers Devon, Norfolk & Warwick.
They are then in 10 year increments with the 1881 censuses being the most
detailed & available on a set of CD's from the Mormons.
The 1891 census for Scotland is available on line from Scots origins where
you pay a fee to access the information. You can then order a copy of the
census page if you think it is your family.
I know this isn't in great detail but I hope it has helped out a little.
