Subject: NSW Probates
Hi Julie

I would try to be101 % sure this probate ref is correct . Does the
place of registation of his death match or is close to where
probate was lodged ? and of course the year of death and name
match up ??
What do I do with it now....

Depends on how wealthy you are :-)

This A stands for 'Administration ' which indicate there was no
will as such.but would be a record/s of how his estate was
distributed.
The crunch was in mid July last year the cost of obtaining a copy
of a NSW Wills skyrocketed from an average $10 ( some very early
wills did cost more that that ) to $37
> What do the A and the P stand for.
A is for Administration , P is Probate, which are the more commonly
used ref letters
Depending on the date of this event NSW State Records, Kingswood,
have wonderful docs called deceased estate files, which are more or
less estate inventories.
If you want to try your luck and get a copy of this Admin . Just
write to
NSW Supreme Court
Probate Division
GPO Box 3
Sydney
2001
quoting the name , date and ref number and a cheque for $37 and
keep your fingers crossed that the info will be worth that much
