Can you take your Byrnes further back, to Campbelltown? I'm descended from
Hugh Vestrey Byrne, one of the Wicklow Martyrs, who was given the choice of
transportation as a free man (sounds like a contradiction in terms) or rot
in an Irish gaol, in 1806.
