As a Portuguese-American, I am concerned about what is happening in Timor
Leste (East Timor). It affects our global Portuguese community. Although
this list is a forum for genealogy, it is also a forum to share culture and
traditions of concern to all of us who share a Portuguese heritage. What is
happening in East Timor is part of our Portuguese heritage whether you want
to admit it or not. So I think it is appropriate to share one's concerns
over Timor. Your political rantings aside, we do have a responsibility to be
citizens of a larger global community.
