Subject: [AZORES-L] E.Timor and ex portugal state
Date: Thu, 9 Sep 1999 15:31:33 EDT
My feelings about E. Timor are this: It DOES concern genealogy. Oh, yes, it
does!
Portugal "discovered" Timor and many Portuguese were there as soldiers,
merchants, government officials. Surely some of our ancestors spent time
there and some surely fathered children while stationed there as soldiers,
merchants or government officials. And in time some of our ancestors'
siblings settled permanently on Timor, and so again, probably every one of us
has "cousins" who are being killed today on Timor.
And for a list member to criticize our stance on Timor in such a coarse
manner is not appropriate for this list. Also cowardly to my mind. Why not
sign your name to the posting as you do your other postings?
