This was in my local newspaper today: (White Plains, NY)

Wednesday, August 1st, 2001 - PIRES, GLORIA L. - Gloria L. Pires of New
Canaan, CT, formerly of Yonkers died suddenly on July 30, 2001. Born August
4, 1922 in Plymouth, MA to the late Manuel and Beatriz (Janela) Melro, she
was 78. Beloved wife of the late Francisco Pires. Devoted mother of John
Pires of Yonkers, Manuel Pires of New Canaan, CT, Frank Pires of Glen Ellyn,
Ill and Mary Goncalves of New Canaan, CT. Loving sister of Manuel Melro,
Josephine Barata and Mary Matos. Also survived by 8 grandchildren. Friends
may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave. on Wednesday and
Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral Mass at St. Eugene Church on Friday at
10AM. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery.
