As far as the Azores winds up on Portugal, may have something to do with the
Azores is also Portugal. Terry, I don't know if you got the latest from
rootsweb, missing links or review. Someone wrote that because of all the
turmoil in Europe, Russian, Poland, Chechs, Germans and other countries
further west would not be able to have a family reunion or find family. Kind
of puts a perspective on how fortunate I am, even though I have no heirs and
the last of the males of the Lewis Line. my dad has three sisters. Mom was
the portuguese lineage, I have found her grand and a possibility of her
husband. Can't say for certain but a man, 18, on the ship Vega arr. Aug 1,
1893, same as my great grand, he is listed as Vital da Rosa Bett d, mine is
Vital deSousa Bettencourt. It may have been shortened. I can see two
possibilities. Vital da Rosa Bett(encourt) d(a) (Sousa) or Rosa got changed
to Sousa. Nothing solid. Darrell
