Hi Marilyn,
it is of course dangerous to guess what is behind the words but I still
try:
garde couiher could be "garde coucher" which I translate as "night
watch" in a pension or a girls school.
voihirier is probably "voiturier" or "coachman"= cabdriver with a horse
and coach.
