Hi Sue Hedges
Thanks for your reply. Her mothers maiden name is Trevillian. This is where
it gets confusing!! She is listed as the daighter to my 2x Gt Grandfather
John Champion, (her mother being Mary Ann Elizabeth Trevillian) but her name
in the census is Ellen Truelling. this is why I think it may be a corruption
of Trevillian. She looks like a totally separate person living in the same
house. John and Mary Ann married in 1865 in Battersea, and all their children
were born in either Rotherhithe or Poplar. Mary Ann was born in 1837 in
Dartford in Kent and John Champion was born in Godalming in Surrey.
Ellen was born in 1858 in Newbury in Berks before their marriage. She is the
only link that I have with Berks. One theory that I have is that she is Mary
Anns child by someone else and is Ellen Truelling Champion (or Trevillian
Champion.) I have checked the GRO, but I checked it for Trevillian. I will
now look under my theory of Ellen T Champion.
Sorry this was long, but its a bit complex.
All the best
