Hello Sue
This sounds like a missing entry. Have you tried contacting the
Registrar at the Wantage Registration Office as firstly the quarterly
copy may not have reached the Registrar General in time for entry or
even not at all.
The problem is that marriages are not in one book as each church
registered for marriages has its own - so if they are non conformists
with their own book you will need to tell the Registrar which church the
marriage was held in.
The Wantage and Grove churches/chapels, other than the C of E, are:
Wantage Baptist, founded 1648, Grove Baptist Chapel founded 1837 (not
known if either had/have a marriage register book); Wantage Independent
founded 1730 (later Congregational now United Reformed Church); Wantage
Wesleyan founded early 1800's (now Methodist).
The Registry Office address is Civic Centre, Portway, Wantage, Oxon
OX12 9BX. [Note Wantage transferred to Oxfordshire in 1974]
Hope this helps; good hunting.
