Hi Norma,

I went to the National Library in Canberra, Australia today and did some
looking up for you. Unfortunately we were evacuated for a fire drill and
weren't allowed back in! So I still need to try to see some more sources,
but this is what I've found so far on descendants of Samuel BRAILSFORD.
Where a Reg # is quoted, I have referred to "Diggers Pioneer Index Victoria
1836-1888" for BirthMarriageDeath. If you wanted more information, the
marriage cert of Samuel & Rebecca would give you their places of birth and
parents' names. You can order these on the internet. If you're interested,
email me off list and I'll find out where.

The info for Mary Emily FORBES, her siblings and her children was obtained
from the Brailsford Family Genealogy Forum found at
http://genforum.genealogy.com/brailsford/ posted by Mary Lee Martin Hayes. I
have tried to send her an email but with no reply. She is obviously
interested in the FORBES family judging by her other postings.

Due to your interest in the Australian Brailsfords I decided to do a listing
of them. There are only 32 Brailsfords listed in Australia! I know 4 of
them. So I started ringing them and took "oral history" over the phone. Most
have immigrated in the 1960s from England. I managed to reunite some old
friends aged in their 70s who had immigrated on the same ship in 1965 from
Sheffield. They had not previously known each other, and had their families'
luggage mixed up! Unfortunately I still have 8 left to ring, and have not
yet found any obvious descendant of your Samuel Brailsford. But a couple of
them know nothing about their ancestors which may be a possibility. I'll
keep ringing tonight when it's a bit cheaper and do some more at the library
next week. So stay hopeful!
