Especially for Eddie and John...
Thanks for your email of details and sources used, Eddie. It gave me a lot
to play with over the weekend. I'm sending this to list for general
interest.
**Location**
The location of Eddie & John's research has stemmed from Retford. All other
locations including
Gamston 1780-1784
West Drayton 1787
Babworth 1791-1794
Ordsall 1808 -
Hayton 1816
Clarborough 1834
are within an approximate 5 mile radius of Retford. A map showing roads
called Spital Hill, Bridgegate St, and Moorgate Pk can be obtained at the
following site if you don't have one.

Eddie wrote...[I am only surmising that Joshua, senior, was born in
Derbyshire, because I cannot find any trace of him in Notts.,and there
are Archilaus/Hercules and Josephs in Ashover,Tibshelf and N.Wingfield.
I am looking for a Joshua born about 1855-65,who married a Margaret ??
before 1780.]
**The elusive Joshua BRAILSFORD**
A Joshua BRAILSFORD married Margaret CLARK on 28 Apr 1776 at Worksop,
Nottingham, England. These dates would tie in perfectly and Worksop is close
to Retford.
DO THESE JOSHUA BRAILSFORDS MEAN ANYTHING TO ANYONE?
Joshua BRAILSFORD M Christening: 10 Apr 1757 Woolley Moor, North Wingfield,
Derby, England;
Parents Robert BRAILSFORD & Casiah (about 7 kids)
Joshua BRAILSFORD M Christening: 18 Aug 1760 Tibshelf, Derby, England;
Parents Joshua BRAILSFORD & Elizabeth (about 7 kids)
Purely speculative.. For clues on his siblings and parents, I would be
tempted to look at other BRAILSFORDs in the area. there was only one other
BRAILSFORD family around in West Retford in 1771 - 1785. They might have
been nephews/nieces. The "unknown" Brailsfords begin in 1771, which is a bit
earlier than Joshua's family, so may have belonged to an elder brother? It
is (just possible) that this elder brother might be easier to trace. And if
worse comes to worse, if it doesn't help you, it might help someone else who
is looking for Brailsfords!
On the IGI.

Paul may have been born circa 1731-1751]
