My ancestor, JANE CAMPBELL married WITTER JOHNSTON, who was born 1753 in
Schenectady NY, died 1839 in Sidney Plains NY, and served as a Colonel in the
NY militia in the Revolutionary War; there is information that the couple
lived for a considerable time in the Sidney and Sidney Plains area (near the
Pennsylvania border of NY).

I have not yet been able to find out anything about JANE's date or place of
birth, or the names of her parents or siblings, even though I've looked in
many of the usual places (her husband's military records, the IGI, etc. etc.).

Any information or clues as to her identity would be greatly appreciated!
