1.=09Mary CAMPBELL was born 1750 in Cumberland, PA. She died 1801 in Probab=

Greene, PA and was buried in (Washington County =96now Greene, PA.)
!Stolen by Indians in a raid in Western Pennsylvania in 1757. Returned to
her family in 1764 when Col. Bouquet forced the Delawares to return all
their captives in negotiating a treaty. Dates in the story of her capture
vary from 1757 to 1759, but the basic story is always the same.

portion of a brochure, which contains an article "Why Mary Campbell
Cave?"
Mary married Joseph WILLFORD, son of Samuel WILLFORD and Elizabeth BLISS
in 1770 in Mt.Pleasant Twp, York (now Adams), PA. Joseph was born 22 Apr
1743 in Lubenham, Leicestershire, Eng. He died 1828 in Monongalia, WV.
Birth and Christening dates from LDS Film 585,284, Lubenham,
Leicestershire, England Parish records.
Came to America in 1765 or 1766. Joseph and Mary had the following
children:
=09=092=09M=09i.=09Samuel WILLFORD was born 1772 in York, PA. He died about=
1866 in
Wayne, OH. He married Mary Ann SNYDER on 18 Aug 1795.=20
=09=093=09M=09ii.=09Daniel WILLFORD was born 1773 in York, PA. He died 1832=
/1835 in
Greene, PA. He married Sarah SNYDER on 1804 in Greene, PA. Sarah was born
about 1784. She is undoubtedly the sister of Samuel's wife, Mary Ann
Snyder.
=09=094=09M=09iii.=09William WILLFORD was born 15 Mar 1775 in York, PA. He =
died 6 Oct
1842. He married Sarah RICH about 1804 in PA. Sarah was born 12 Feb 1780.
She died 9 Sep 1844.
=09=095=09M=09iv.=09Dougal Campbell WILLFORD was born 1777 in York, PA. He =
died in
Logan, OH.
=09=096=09M=09v.=09Joseph (2) WILFORD was born 21 Nov 1779 in Westmoreland,=
PA. He
died 15 Sep 1842 in Cedar County, IA and was buried in Cedar, IA.
See "Early History of the Willford Family" written about 1957 by Leslye
Hardman Womer a descendant of the Joseph Willfords. The first few pages
relate to the Willfords. (A portion of this book is used in the best
seller "Pioneer Women, Voices from the Kansas Frontier" by Joanna L.
Stratton. Published by Simon & Schuster 1981. Page 42. .
This Joseph and his wife and his son, Joseph, and family migrated to Cedar
Co. IA, and were squatters there in April of 1837 when the territory was
surveyed.
This is from notes from the Early Land Surveys of Cedar County, published
in the Cedar County Historical Review.
