CURLE _ Judith Serena (nee Slind) It is with a profound sense of loss and
sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Judith Serena Curle on June
18, 2007. Judie was born in Montreal, Quebec on June 16, 1949. Her sons
recall fond memories of days spent at the beach, wonderful meals made with
care, and her nurturing, loving nature (not to mention her wicked sense of
humor). Her passion for literature was apparent throughout her life as she
quietly exercised enormous talent in writing and editing. Her great love of
animals began from childhood and Judie's 2 cats; Ben and Nibbler, as well as
her dog Jazz will miss her very much. She was a force to be reckoned with in
the game of Melderman. Her absence at the card table will always be
especially felt by her "little buddy" Carol. Judie was predeceased by her
parents Margaret and Lloyd Slind, and her dear friend Stuart Wallace. Judie
is survived and deeply missed by her 3 sons Ian, Jordan and Gerry, her
husband John, his other sons Anthony and Darren , as well as her siblings
Jon, Sandra, Stuart and his wife Margit She is sadly missed by her brother
and sister-in-law, Gerry and Maureen Curle. Aunt Judie will be missed by her
nieces and nephews; Aine, Selena, Daniel, Taiya, Lily, Frank, William and
Vanessa. The loss of an amazing friend is a sorrow to all the people Judie
held close to her heart. Although Judie's passing was sudden, she was in
hands of tremendous care with the amazing staff at Lions Gate Hospital,
Palliative Care. Thank you so much to all of you. In life and through to the
end, Judie showed enormous bravery and courage. Judie, you will always be
missed, but we know you'll always be near. Thank you for touching us all
with your love and grace. In lieu of flowers, you may make a contribution to
the SPCA. A gathering to celebrate Judie's life will be announced in the

away at home on June 25, 2007, after a long stretch battle against tough
opponents. He will be remembered for his enduring courtesy, modesty and
fairness by Sophie, his wife of 46 years, and his children Peter (wife Lisa)
and Patricia (partner Constantine), and his grandchildren Mariah, Devon and
Darby. Born in Edmonton, Alberta to Samuel and Annie Dunn, Don Dunn moved
with his four older brothers to Vancouver as a young boy. He joined the
Canadian Air Force in WW2, following his brothers Lloyd, Wally, Wilson and
George Dunn into service. The Dunn family had a long history in Vancouver
horseracing, and after graduating from the University of B.C., Don became a
racing official at Exhibition Park. It was a position he treated with
respect and dedication for 35 years until his retirement in 1986. Don Dunn
was elected to the B.C. Racing Hall of Fame in 1997, an acknowledgment of
his years of fair and compassionate judgment at the racetrack. His brother
T.W. (Wally) Dunn was also elected to the Hall of Fame as a trainer of
Thoroughbred racehorses, as was fellow racing steward Wilson Dunn, the
breeder of Canadian champion George Royal. George Dunn was the early trainer
of George Royal and the inventor of the Dunn Safety Starting Bar. Dad was an
athlete (skier, golfer and tennis player), and went putting the day of his
death. He adored his horses, his garden and especially his family, and we
adored him. We will remember him as a gentleman; a man who chose to live
with honour and dignity, always. He requested no service, and his ashes will
be scattered in his son Peter's garden. To Dad: God bless you.

REYNOLDS _ Patricia Lou (nee Runcie) March 1, 1954 - July 1, 2007 On July
1st we lost a very special woman. Patti was an incredible and inspiring
Mother, Wife, Sister and Friend. Known throughout the neighbourhood for her
beautiful gardens and lawn, marathon daily walks and, her immaculate and
welcoming home, Patti inspired everyone she met. Predeceased by her parents
George and Shirley Runcie; her sister Judy and two siblings Susan and Dougie
who died in childhood of cystic fibrosis. Survived by her sisters Carol and
Rhonda and their families. At the age of 16 she met her husband Chris and
they have been inseparable ever since including their time at UBC and while
Patti taught school in Port Alberni. Never apart for too long they soon
married and started a family. Mark, Amanda, Whitney and Taylor were the joy
of their life and no mother could have been prouder or more fiercely devoted
to her clan. An enthusiastic, tireless, and extremely organized Mom and
Wife - Patti never backed down from a challenge or an opportunity to make
life a little better for her family and the world around them. Summers in
Qualicum were some of her favourite times, watching her children playing on
the beach and running barefoot in the sand made for magical memories. Life
without Patti will be a much emptier existence. Her sharp wit and her
loyalty were unsurpassed, her sense of morality, fairness and family
unending and unbending. She lives in us all and we are forever grateful we
had the chance to be a part of her beautiful life. Thanks to the many
friends and family members who helped so much especially Rose, Barb and
Jane. A service will be held at Dunbar Heights United Church on Friday, July
6, 2007 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please honour Patti's memory by
making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Foundation or Canadian Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation.

WATKINS _ Mary (Anne) (nee Wright). It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of our mother and grandmother June 14, 2007. Born in
Vancouver to Wallace and Geraldine Wright on September 5, 1918, Mary was
educated at Crofton House School, moved to England in 1939 and eventually
joined the Mechanized Transport Corps in WW II. She married Garth E.H.
Watkins and had two children, then returned to Canada in 1956 where she
became a businesswoman. Mary loved travel, her family, keeping abreast of
the news, walks, the Vancouver Sun crosswords and bridge. She was a very
strong, proud woman and those characteristics have been passed on to her
descendants. She was predeceased by her brother Jim (Jo) and her elder
daughter Jennifer. She is survived by her brother Courtenay (Sara), daughter
Rosemary (Chris) and grandchildren Andrea, Heather, Jamie and Nicholas and
great-grandchildren Troy and Hilary. Sincere thanks to Dr. Bassett, nurses
and staff in the ER at Peace Arch Hospital for their superb care. There will
not be a funeral at Mary's request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to the Canadian cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
