BARTON _ Janet passed away July 1st, 2007 at the age of 86. She was
predeceased by her husband, Alan, in 1978. In accordance with her wishes,
her body has been donated to the Faculty of Medicine, UBC. Many thanks to
the terrific staff at Chalmers Lodge and the doctors and nurses at Mt. St.
Joseph's Hospital and also at the Brock Fahrini Pavilion for their care. "If
there is another world, she is in bliss. If there is none, she made the best

BARUDIN _ Gerald Lewis Passed away after a short illness on July 9, 2007,
Gerald Lewis Barudin, 64, of Vancouver, beloved father, brother, and
grandfather. He is survived by sons Jason, 36, of Nanaimo, Samuel, 32, of
Vancouver, daughters Raven and Jessie of Vancouver; grandchildren Sydney and
Alexis, life companion Elizabeth Barudin Isaac; brothers Barry, of Wisconsin
Rapids, WI, David, of Roanoke, VA, Stuart, of Nanuet, NY, Theodore, of
Albuquerque, NM, Guy, of Ridgewood, NJ. Gerald had an essential joy of life
and a love of people. A devoted father and grandfather, he had a very full,
well-rounded life of humor and acceptance of all that life entailed. We will
all miss him dearly and he lives onward in our hearts. A memorial service
will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Glenhaven
Funeral Home, 1835 E. Hastings St., Vancouver. A private interment is
planned for July 16, 2007 at Victory Memorial Park in South Surrey.

BISS _ Madeleine Anne It is with great sadness that we are announcing the
sudden passing of Madeleine Anne Biss in her 56th year. Survived by her
husband Ray Waterman; son Michael Biss; sister Anna Marie Wells of White
Rock; brother Michael Wells of Michigan; cousin Irene Campany; Sister
Phyllis Hoey, F.M.D.M. of Scotland; many cousins and aunts in Scotland.
Madeleine had an unquestionable love for animals and was very active with
the Bouvier Rescue. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 13 2007 at St.
Ann's Parish in Abbotsford at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be announced at a
later date.

BURMAS _ Blagoje, born in Vela Luka, Croatia on March 25, 1936, passed away
suddenly on June 24, 2007. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Iris

9, 2007 with daughters Kathy and Elaine and granddaughter Sarah at her side.

DONOVAN _ Lori went to be with Jesus on July 8, 2007 at the age 66 years.
She is survived by her loving husband Cliff; children Kelly, Terry (Kathy),

DOWNTON _ Our beloved Mother, Charlotte Downton (Jacobson) peacefully passed
on July 8, 2007 in Surrey, BC. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley
E. Downton, daughter, Cheryl Thatcher Stinn, her parents, Arthur and Marie
Jacobson, 2 brothers, Madel and Lloyd Jacobson and 1 sister, Anne Powell.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Hoodikoff, sons Mark (Terri) Downton
of Surrey, Lorne (Helen) Downton of Chilliwack, Scott (Debra) Downton of
Victoria, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Norma
Merideth, Prince Albert, Sask, Mavis Galambos, Saskatoon, Sask, 1 brother
Mel Wall, Redcliff, Alta, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Charlotte was born in Parkbeg, Sask and lived and married in Moose Jaw until
1956. She and Stan moved to Vancouver with their 3 oldest children and then
in 1958 to Surrey. They had 2 more children, there, and together a life was
made. As we celebrate her life, she will be remembered as a strong and
determined woman and a loving and caring Mother. It's your turn to rest now.
Services to be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 229, 13525 - 106
Ave., Surrey, B. C., on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 11:00 am. In lieu of

ERICKSON _ Mildred Irene (Phair): Our precious Mom and Granny passed into
the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, July 8, 2007
at the age of 88. Predeceased only 10 months ago by her beloved husband,
Wilbert, she is survived by daughters Pat (Colin) McSween and Wanda (Bob)
Symons, and 10 grandchildren: Katie, John, April, Jared, Adam, Hannah,

FISHER _ Joyce Adelene Joyce passed away on July 6, 2007 in the Delta
Hospital from cancer. Joyce was born on August 9, 1946 in Empress, Alberta
to John and Elizabeth Antoni, both of whom have predeceased her. Joyce is
survived by: Bob, her loving husband of thirty three years, their two sons,
Robert and Michael, all of Delta, and her brother Gerald (Bonnie), of
Calgary, as well as, numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Joyce's
parents farmed near Mendham, Saskatchewan, where she attended school. She
obtained her teaching certificate from the University of Saskatchewan, in
Regina and taught at elementary schools in Regina, Kelowna and Tsawwassen,
prior to her resigning to raise her two sons. Joyce will be dearly missed by
her family and her many friends in the Tsawwassen area where she lived for
the past thirty-three years. Funeral Services will be held at the Sacred
Heart Parish at 3900 Arthur Drive in Ladner, BC at 11 am on Friday, July 13,
2007. A private interment will be followed by a Reception, commencing at 1pm
at the Tunnel Town Curling Club at 1720 - 56th Street, Tsawwassen, BC. In

FOSTER _ Almon Thomas passed away at his home in Surrey on July 1st, 2007
aged 70 years. He is survived by his loving Family, children, Sandra (Paul)

BRIAN D. FRANKS July 15, 1944 - July 6, 2007 Vancouver & Vernon BC It is
with great sadness that we say goodbye to a very special man. His wife
Arlene, daughter Jennifer and son Richard, his brother Doug (Mona), special
friend Wayne (Darryl) celebrate his life and love of having fun. Pulling
water skiers behind "Endless Summer" is only one of the many loving memories
that will be with us forever. Old school friends, Dave, Geoff and Mike have
lots of great tales to tell......but for now BRIAN we all wish you "water
like glass on the lake and powder snow up the mountain". Gathering to
celebrate his life will be at noon on Saturday, July 14 at the north end of
Kits beach, under the trees, Vancouver. Donations may be made to the
Alzheimer's Assn. in Brian's memory.

FRIEDRICH _ Harry Passed away July 5th, 2007, after a courageous battle with
cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Adeline; sons Peter
(Rosanna), Gert (Lesley); grandchildren; Lisa, Julie, Carrie, Cari-Lynn,
Nikki, Brad and great-grandchildren Allyssa, Jaden, Jason and Taylor. He is
also survived by his sister Anita and brother Gerhard in Germany. He will be
greatly missed by many other relatives and friends here in Canada. A
Memorial Service will be held at Valley View Arbor Chapel on Saturday, July
14, 2007 at 11:00AM followed by interment and reception. Donations made to
the BC Cancer Society in Harry's name would be greatly appreciated by the
family.

GORDON _ Raymond Gene Born April 8th, 1935 at Vancouver General Hospital,
Ray passed away peacefully July 9th, 2007, with his family at his side at
Royal Columbian Hospital. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and
wife Marge, of fifty-one years, daughter Evelyn (Mark), son Denny, his
cherished grandchildren Kara and Eric, brother Bob (Deb), sister-in-law
Sharon (Ray), brother-in-law Jim (Lorraine), niece Kaity and nephews Keegan,
Dave (Cathy), Jason (Maria) and many life long friends and neighbours. Ray
was predeceased by father Babe and mother Sally. After graduating from John
Oliver High School, Ray apprenticed as a mailer at Pacific Press. During his
fifty years as a mailer he was Secretary, then President of The Mailers
Local of the ITU/CEFU. Ray was an avid golfer, starting his career as a
young lad caddying at Fraserview Golf Course. He was passionate about his
game and eventually became president of Mission and Iron Mountain Golf
Courses. Ray was a wonderful listener, problem solver and entertained all
with his many stories. He loved spending winters with Marge in Palm Springs,
playing golf and playing cards. He spent many hours working on his home,
garden and grass. Ray loved going to his grandson's Lacrosse games and
driving his granddaughter and her friends to events. Ray's favourite
greeting was, "How're ya doing partner." In lieu of flowers donations can be

HALL _ Ormonde James (March 30, 1920 - June 14, 2007). Ormonde Hall, the son
of James and Sarah, inherited their sense of fair play which he applied to
his practice of law and in his love of sports. A graduate of Lord Byng High
School and the first law class at UBC, Ormie practised corporate law with
Sutton, Braidwood representing many of British Columbia's major newspapers
and radio and television stations. During World War Two, he served as a
flight lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Ormie made friends and
attracted clients with the golf game that had been coached by his father. He
is survived by his children Linda Rogers, Dana Hall and Jaime Hall,
grandchildren Sasha, Keefer and Tristan Rogers and Christopher Hall,
grandchildren Sophie, James Sage and Olive Jane and former spouse Patricia
Ogden Hall. He is also survived by his wife Mary Paul. He was predeceased by
his sister Doris who, like her mother, was a mainstay of St. Helen's
Anglican Church. There was no funeral by request.

HOSKINSON POPE _ Margherita Esmee. On Monday, July 9th, 2007. Peacefully at
home in Victoria, with her children by her side, in her 85th year.
Predeceased by her husbands Edward R. (Ted) Hoskinson (1987) and F. Norman
Pope (1994); and her brother Charles Bourgeois. Survived by her loving
children: Elizabeth (Antoine Maloney), Cathrin (Thomas Fischer), Dr. Michael
(Gisele) Hoskinson, and Joan Hoskinson; her grandchildren: Liam and Edward
Maloney, Andrew and Rosemary Fischer, Reynald, Emile (Angela), Angela and
Paul Hoskinson; her sister-in-law Cecilia Bourgeois; her nieces and nephews
and their children; and many close friends. She served with the RCAF (Womens
Division) during World War II, and had a long working career in Vancouver.
Her life was filled with beauty, and she shared her love of music, and of
Victoria and its surroundings, with her dearest friends and family. Mass in
celebration of her life will be at St. Patrick's Church, 2060 Haultain St.,
Victoria, on Friday, July 13th, 2007 at 12:00 pm. Private burial in
Vancouver, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her memory to the

HUNT _ Joseph Sheridan passed away peacefully with his family by his side in
Surrey on Sunday July 8, 2007. He is predeceased by his grandson Joseph,
special friend and mother-in-law Isabel (Nana), and will be dearly missed by
his family, soul-mate and wife of 44 years, Judy, children Terry (Wendy),
Tiger (Kim), Ange (Jamie), 5 grandchildren Sam, Trisha, Joeda, Brandon and
Dustin, his scooter buddy Tim (Marylou) and family, brother-in-law Gary
(Shirley) and family and many friends. All are welcome to attend a

JORDAN _ Bert Richard December 8, 1923 to July 7, 2007 "Forever Loved" Our
wonderful husband, Dad and Poppa has left on his final journey with his
adoring family at his side to see him off. Bert proudly served his country
in the Navy during WW 11 and at the end of the war he returned home to West
Vancouver with the love of his life and new bride. The next few years found
him doing something he loved passionately; working on the railroad with his
father. Together they rode the rails of the Pacific Great Eastern Railway
with Bert happily firing for his dad, the Engineer. Railroading remained in
his blood forever. The majority of his working years were spent in the
reduction business. In 1969, he joined West Coast Reduction where he spent
many fulfilling years until his retirement in 1988. Bert was predeceased by
his parents Brazier and Jewel, his sister Margaret, his brothers Charlie and
Jack, and in 1995 by his son Al. He is survived and to be forever missed by
his wife and soul mate of almost 63 years, Alice, his son Rick (Judy), his
daughters Valerie (Bert Moritz) and April (Chris Farrall), Al's partner Ross
Dixon and the grandchildren of whom he was so proud, Jason (Blair) Jordan,
Sean (Darcy) Moritz, Wes (Amber) Jordan, Brad (Brenda) Moritz, Nicole
Jordan, and Brock (Veronica) Farrall. He also leaves behind 5 (and 1/2)
great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kaitlin, Jacob, Saisha and Ethan - the "little
lights of his life". His passing will leave a large void in the lives of his
Casino buddy and younger brother, Roy (sister-in-law Shirley) and sister
Mary June Wyndham. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews both here
and south of the Border, and will be thought of fondly by many wonderful
neighbours and special friends. Bert will also be sadly missed by Alice's
surviving brothers, Lew and Frank and sister Hazel and their families, all
of Newfoundland. He thought of all of them with great fondness and will be
remembered as a man of integrity and compassion and one who was always ready
to extend a helping hand. A Celebration of Dad's Life will be held in the
Chelsea Gardens Clubhouse, 13888 70th Avenue, Surrey, on Sunday July 15,
2007 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations made in
his honour to BC Cancer Foundation/Fraser Valley, 13750 96th Avenue, Surrey
BC V3V 1Z2, would be greatly appreciated. The train has left the station.

LAVALLEE _ Marion Ruth (nee Roseland), born October 22, 1933 in Vancouver,
BC, passed away on July 6, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer in
Surrey, BC. She is predeceased by her husband Jack in 2003, her brothers
Carl and Olaf, and her sister Lillian. Marion leaves behind her two
daughters Michele (Mike) Williams and Renee (Grant) Waters, four
grandchildren; Nicolas, Jessica, Connor, Grady, two sisters; Nan Waters and
Irene Field, and her sister-in-law Shirley Roseland. There will be no
service at Marion's request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in
Marion's memory to the BC Cancer Foundation.

in Palmerston, Ontario. She is predeceased by her father and brother. Pat

(Leann) and daughter Kelly Hoyrup (Dane). Pat has 3 grandsons Nicholas,
Trevor and Brock as well as nieces, nephews and many dear friends. A private

Beverly. Beverly passed away peacefully at age 69, after a very short but
courageous battle with cancer. Born in Vancouver, BC. Predeceased by husband
Wesley July 8, 2005. Survived by children Steven (Lori), Shelley (Bill),
Deborah (Brad). Treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she got
to see before she passed. Bev was a wonderful loving wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her sisters
and brothers and spouses, nieces and nephews and many other family and

SMITH _ Mariette Dora (Beaulne) July 25, 1926 - July 9, 2007 Passed away
peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital at the age of 80. Born in Montreal,
Quebec, predeceased by her husband Darrell. She is the loving mother of
Michael (Judy) of Salmon Arm, Laura (Bruce) of Chilliwack, grandsons Justin
and Clayton of Salmon Arm and numerous relatives on both sides of the family
survive her. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 13 at 11:00am
celebrated by Father Galvon at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1153 Fir
Street, White Rock, BC, followed by a reception at Victory Memorial Park,
14831 - 28th Ave, Surrey, BC. In addition, the family wishes to thank the
caring health professionals at Peace Arch Hospital Palliative Unit. In lieu

TALKKARI _ Colleen Ivy passed away on July 10th, 2007 at Christine Morrison
Hospice at the age of 47. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband

(Roger) and brothers Michael and Patrick. Colleen will be remembered for her
simple faith, loving kindness and ability to live life to the fullest. A

Kamloops, BC, she soon moved to, and was raised in, Crofton, BC. During WWII
she first served her country manufacturing aircraft, doing her part like
Rosie the Riveter and the thousands of other women who joined the work force
in those years. Following the war, she was sent overseas to London to
process soldiers returning home with their war brides. When she was
discharged in the fall of 1946, she went to work for Pacific Stagelines
where she met John Trofanuk, marrying him in January of 1950. She quickly
settled into the busy life of keeping a home and raising her daughter,
Joanne, born in 1951. Over the next years, her life was rich with friends
from work as well as new friends from the Hyd-Rovers, a trailer club, and
from Birch Bay, where she and John spent many weekends. Mal loved to laugh
and be active, and enjoyed bingo, bowling, badminton and shuffleboard, which
she took up when she and John began wintering in Yuma, Arizona. A snowbird
for over 25 years, she made many friends from around the United States and
Canada, often inviting them to visit her in her home in White Rock, BC,
where she was renowned for her welcoming hospitality. She was very creative,
and found an outlet in all manner of crafts, many of which she taught and
shared with friends in both Yuma and Birch Bay. She is survived by her
husband John, daughter Joanne (Paul), grandchildren Amanda (Steve) and Chris
(Zoya), sister Jen, brothers Hutch, Norm and Ray. Mal was predeceased by her
parents Eugene and Dorina and her brother Joseph. A celebration of her life
will be held from 1:30pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, July 15th in the party room of
15275 - 19th Ave, Surrey (Ridgeway Building). Memorial donations may be made
to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Children's Hospital Neo-natal
Unit.

WILLMAN _ Gwennie-Mae (Stonehouse) November 13, 1941 - July 3, 2007 It is
with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gwen Willman on
July 3, 2007. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters; Kathy (Daryl)
Schneider and Brenda (Cam) Willman; sisters Joyce (Ken) Haarsma, Bonnie
Stonehouse, grandchildren Jaydon and Keillyn Schneider, and many other
family members, friends and neighbors. Gwen will be remembered for her
kindness, generosity, helpfulness and her contagious laugh. She may be gone,
but will live forever in the hearts of those who loved her. Gwen would want
us to remember that life is very precious and to give extra love to everyone
you care for. Throughout Gwen's life, she had a major impact on the lives of
women in need. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gwen Willman
Memorial Fund at YWCA of Calgary, 320 5th Avenue S.E. Calgary, AB, T2G 0E5.
