BIALKOWSKI, Wanda Wanda passed away peacefully at Saanich Peninsula Hospital
on July 6, 2007. Born in Poland on February 27, 1921 and predeceased by her
husband Ted in 1984, Wanda will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lucy
(Ron) Sauve; 2 sons Richard (Joyce) and Larry (Isy); 4 grandchildren, Ken,
Vince, Samantha and Connor as well as family in Poland. A Mass will be
celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 785 Burnside Road West on
Tuesday, July 17 at 1:00 pm with interment to take place at Royal Oak Burial
Park. Following the burial, please attend a reception at First Memorial's
Garden Room adjoining the cemetery. 388106

DIMOCK, Judith Ellen (nee McLean) June 02, 1938 July 05, 2007 It is with
great sadness that we announce the passing of a beautiful Wife, Mother,
Sister, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. Judy was born to Senator Donald A.
McLean and Catherine (nee Walsh) in St. John, New Brunswick. Judy was the
middle child of three, and leaves her older brother, Donald (Delta, B.C.)
and younger sister, Faith (Lake Utopia, New Brunswick). Judy lived her
earlier life in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick. She later became an R.N. and
married Dr. Gordon K. Dimock in 1959. Judy and Gordon had four children;
Donald (Beverly Waugh), Cathy (David Prette), Karl (Tammi Martin), and
Andrew (Patrick Sweeney), She is also survived by ten beautiful
grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Conor, Jessica, Miles, Cole, Jacob, Emery, Samuel
and Hailey. A private family service was held on Wednesday, July 11, 2007.
Friends, if they wish, may make a donation to the Sooke Hospice in lieu of

FLOWERS, Meta May 1914 2007 Born in Lundar, Manitoba, passed away in
Victoria, BC on July 9, 2007. Predeceased by her husbands, George Ami
Labrecque in 1969 and John Owen Flowers in 1993, she is survived by her sons
Larry and Garry (Michelle), two grandchildren and a sister-in-law Lillian
Warren. Meta served in World War II as a nurse in Amsterdam. Funeral Service
will be held in Sands Funeral Chapel, 1803 Quadra Street on Monday, July 16,
2007 at 1:00 P.M. Interment to follow at Hatley Memorial Gardens. 389216

GREENHALGH Frederick Joseph (Pop) Born in Saskatchewan on August 4, 1914.
Predeceased by his first wife Kathleen and their son Donald. Survived by his
loving wife Louise, daughters Carol (Robin) Scott, Pat (Don) Watling, son
Russell (Annette), grandchildren: Don, Cathy, Nicole, Tim, Donna, Penny,
Teresa, Colin, Kimberly and Carson, also sixteen greatgrandchildren. Pop was
a longtime employee of Butler Brothers Supplies. He was instrumental in the
building of the world's largest logging trucks, also the first Central
Saanich fire truck. He was a master of all trades, admired by many and loved
by all. We would like to thank Dr. L. Trottershaw for all her kindness and
care. There will be no service by Pop's request. Donations if desired can be

HAWKINS, Olive Lydia On July 2, 2007, Olive Lydia Hawkins passed away
peacefully at Rest Haven Lodge in Sidney, B.C. Olive was born in Medstead,
England in 1907, the only child of William Tollafield and Edith Winifred
Tollafield (nee Tomlinson). She came to Canada in 1919 with her parents and
finished school in Edmonton, Alberta. As a young woman, she worked for the
Hudson's Bay Company in Edmonton. While in Edmonton she met and later
married her husband, Edwin (Ted) Benson Hawkins on December 13, 1933. The
couple moved to Saanichton, B.C. in 1940 and operated a mink farm there for
many years. After the sale of their farm, Olive and Ted enjoyed many happy
years, boating along the B.C. coast and in their travels by motor home in
Canada and the United States. Olive enjoyed curling and was a long-time
member of the I.O.D.E. She was also an active volunteer with the Saanich
Peninsula Hospital Auxiliary. After Ted's death in 1978, Olive moved to
Summer Gate Village in Sidney in 1981. She moved to Rest Haven Lodge, Sidney
in December of 1996, where she had a happy home for the last 10 years.
Lovingly remembered by her niece, Joan Day of Edmonton, Alberta, her cousin
Pat Dowse of Swindon, Wilts, UK, her god daughter Joyce Kyle of Calgary,
Alberta, her dear long time friend Olive Whyte of Saanichton, B.C., and
their respective families. Special thanks to the staff of Rest Haven Lodge
for their excellent care, understanding and compassion over the years. In
accordance with Olive's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial
will take place at a later date. 388605

HEDLEY-SMITH, Beryl Arnold Passed away peacefully on July 10, 2007 at the
age of 85. Beryl was born on April 27, 1922 in Calgary, AB. She was
predeceased by her husband, Gordon, her son Stephen, brother Hugh and sister
Francis. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Robin (Charles),
Margaret (Bruce), Louise (Bruce), Barbara (Don), Stephanie (Mark) and 2
sons, Kenneth and Bruce (Mary Lou). She will also be missed by her sister
Shirley and her brother Fred (Joan). A memorial Service will be held on
Saturday July 19, 2007 at 11am at St. John The Divine Anglican Church,
Quadra Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The St. John The

HILL, Kenneth Anthony Stephen August 18, 1927 July 13, 2006 " Mr Buccaneer "
It's been one long year ago that Ken "our Dad" left us. He is sorely missed
by his family and friends. Born and raised in Esquimalt, Ken gave a lifetime
of community service. A park dedicated to him, is planned in his beloved

HOSKINSON POPE Margherita Esmee On Monday, July 9th, 2007. Peacefully at
home in Victoria, with her children by her side, in her 85th year.
Predeceased by her husbands Edward R. (Ted) Hoskinson (1987) and F. Norman
Pope (1994); and her brother Charles Bourgeois. Survived by her loving
children: Elizabeth (Antoine Maloney), Cathrin (Thomas Fischer), Dr. Michael
(Gisele) Hoskinson, and Joan Hoskinson; her grandchildren: Liam and Edward
Maloney, Andrew and Rosemary Fischer, Reynald, Emile (Angela), Angela and
Paul Hoskinson; her sister-in-law Cecilia Bourgeois; her nieces and nephews
and their children; and many close friends. She served with the RCAF
(Women's Division) during World War II, and had a long working career in
Vancouver. Her life was filled with beauty, and she shared her love of
music, and of Victoria and its surroundings, with her dearest friends and
family. Mass in celebration of her life will be at St. Patrick's Church,
2060 Haultain St., Victoria, on Friday, July 13th, 2007 at 12:10 pm. Private
burial in Vancouver, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her memory
to the Victoria Hospice Society (PRT) will be gratefully appreciated. 388768

peacefully with her family by her side. The Kimber family would like to

McLEAN, Elva Margaret 1918 2007 Elva passed away peacefully at Hart House in
Victoria on June 26, 2007. She was predeceased by her husband George in
2000. Also, she was predeceased by her brothers, Stan and Griff, and her
niece Dinah. She is survived by three nieces (Laara, Margo, and Sandy) and
two nephews (Bill and Ken) all of British Columbia as well as nine grand
nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her friends Isabelle and Iris. All
will miss her quiet and gentle demeanor especially with animals whom she
often tended while living on farms in Canada and the United States. An
accomplished bridge player, she won bridge awards in the United States where
she lived from 1949-1989. Many thanks to the staff and administration of
Hart House for the interest and attentive care that they gave to Elva while

PRIOR, Edith Margaret (Margy) (nee Scoones) May 16, 1925 June 6, 2007 Edith
Margaret Prior of Galiano Island passed away in the Lady Minto Hospital
surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her
husband Cam in 1981, her two sisters Mary and Betty and two of her brothers
Bill and Jim. Left to mourn her passing are her brother John Scoones, her
three children Susan Good, Penny Prior, Ted Prior (Dawn), step daughter
Lorraine Mouldey, step son Ron Prior (Karen), grandchildren, Sarah
Richardson (Bill), Ben Good (Julia), Phoebe and Sasha Trueit, Tessa,
Frances, Rebecca and Paris Prior, Jeri Canderan (Dwayne), Denise Relke
(Chris), Kathy Piros (Jan), Cam Prior (Yasuko) and Nicole Prior. Margy
enjoyed a wonderful Gulf Island childhood which was rich in family and
friends. Working with her parents until Cam Prior swept her from her feet,
they married in 1946. The Prior's raised a loving family, sharing laughs
with their many neighbours and friends. Margy's zest for life was
contagious. With a smile and a giggle in her laugh her love and enjoyment
flowed into her garden and around the song birds engulfing all who shared
her life. So, put on a smile and tip a glass of wine. To Mum, and all the
loving mother's who have passed before her. A celebration of Margy's life
will be held in the Lion's Hall, Galiano Island on Sunday June 15 at 1 pm.

SAVARD, Abraham Earl 1916 2007 "Here's the set-up " (one of his favourite
expressions). Dad passed away Sunday, May 13, 2007. He was born in Arnprior,
Ontario and joined the RCAF in 1940 where he served for twenty-five years in
the police. When he retired as CO of ESIU, he worked for the Office of the
Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. He is predeceased by the love of his
life, Gladys, dearly loved by his sons Earle and Dan, daughter-in-law
Marion, grandson Dian, brother Emmett and many nieces and nephews. He was
much appreciated for his sense of humour, his kindness and his storytelling.
We wish to sincerely thank his doctor, Bill Shoichet; as well as the entire
staff at Douglas House for the kindness and loving care that they gave Dad
for the past seven years. It was truly his home. A memorial service will be
held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Friday, July 20th at 11 :00 AM. 388296

WAY, Clifford James, Lieutenant Commander (RET'D) October 26, 1922 July 6,
2007 Clifford was born north of Treherne, Manitoba at S.E. 6-9-9. He is the
son of James Allin Way and Electa Loretta Moore (Lounsbury). He was
predeceased by Margaret his wife of 52 years (1997), his brother Harvie (MB)
and Joan BaxterWay (B.C.) in 2005. Clifford is survived by families of
daughter Caroline Ford, Whitehorse Yukon; son John (Francine) Way, Richmond,
B.C.; and daughter Barbara, Halifax, N.S. also the family of step-daughter
Moira Stockmann, Port Alberni, B.C. Clifford will be remembered by his
brother-in-law Alec Storm and family in Dunfermline Fife, Scotland;
sister-in-law Beryl Norman and family in Winnipeg, MB Clifford was a WWII
and Korean War Veteran while serving with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1938
1971 while active on HMCS Uganda and Ontario. From 1966 1969 he was Supply
Officer of HMCS Provider (HLFX). He acted as Supply Superintendent for the
construction of HMCS Preserver and HMCS Protector at St. John Shipbuilding
and Drydock Co. Ltd. from 1969 1972. He joined Kent Lines Ltd., St. John,
N.B. as Personnel Manager. Later, relocating to Nova Scotia he held
positions with the province in Departments of Education and Tourism acting
as Director of Adult Education and appointed Assistant Deputy Minister of
Tourism respectively. Upon final retirement Cliff and Margot moved to
Richmond, B.C. He was known for his kind, generous manner and his
supportive, ever encouraging nature. We will remember him as an exemplary
provider and caregiver to those who touched his life. A viewing will be held
on Tuesday July 17 from 5pm to 8pm. A memorial service will be held Thursday
July 19, 2007 at 11am at First Memorial Funeral Services 1155 Fort Street.
Inurnment to follow. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to your
choice of any Pallative Care Unit/Victoria Hospice Society/Canadian Red

WILSON, Shirley Joan (nee Bellamy) May 22, 1933 July 11, 2007 Shirley passed
away peacefully at Saanich Peninsula Hospital after a short struggle with
A.L.S. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Shirley was born in
Winnipeg Manitoba to Herbert and Grace Bellamy. She was predeceased by both
her parents and her younger sister Donna. She is survived by her loving and
devoted husband Ray of 47+ ; son Norman of Edmonton, Alberta; daughter Grace
(Nelson) of Langford, British Columbia.; son Steve (Cheryl) of Bruderhiem,
Alberta; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and her brother Bruce
(Diane) of Ottawa, Ontario. Shirley lived her life in the prairies before
settling into the Sidney area where she and her husband own/ operated the
Sidney Home Hardware from 1977 to 1992. After retiring from the store in
1992 they enjoyed the snowbird life" in Yuma, Arizona. While in Yuma,
Shirley was an active member of the quilting and video library clubs. She
was a loving and thoughtful person, always generous and giving of her time
and of herself to others. Shirley was diagnosed with ALS in January of 2006.
During her struggle with this disease she was attended by the nursing staff
of the Saanich Peninsula Home and community Health Unit. We thank them for
their tender and thoughtful care and in particular wish to thank Carmel
Macdonald, R.N. and Nancy Schultz of Occupational Therapy. We also would
like to thank Dr. Gagliardie for her devotion to Shirley during her illness.
A memorial service will be held at First Memorial in Royal Oak on Tuesday,
July 17 at 10:00 a.m. In Lieu of flowers please make a cash donation, in
loving memory of Shirley Wilson, to the ALS Society, 1007 Bramfield Place,
Brentwood Bay, British Columbia, V8M 1A4. Lord when my soul takes flight,
may if rise swiftly to live forever in your love and care." 388935
