DECOU _ Jessie Honor (1899 - 2007) passed away peacefully at Purdy Pavilion
in Vancouver on Wednesday, July 11 - she was 107 years old. "Muff", as she
was known to her friends, led an active and healthy life well into her
hundreds, much of it in the West End of Vancouver where she enjoyed sunsets
at English Bay, a round of pitch and putt at Stanley Park or an energetic
game of bridge at home with friends. Muff was preceded by her beloved
husband Ted, brother Trev, sister Mary and most recently her eldest son
Dick. She was survived by her daughter Joan Gorton, son Phil DeCou,
daughter-in-law Lucy DeCou, niece Pat Bresnahan along with 4 grandchildren
(Louise Gorton, Eric, Lori and Andy DeCou) and 3 great-grandchildren (Codi,
Connor and Cassidy). Many have asked, "what was the secret to her long life"
and although the common answer was always 'genetics' or 'moderation' the
truth likely lies more in the fact that Muff lived her entire life with a
'good heart' - filled with kindness, compassion, respect and integrity. To
those of us who had the privilege to have known her - she will be missed -
may her heart live on in each of us. By her wish, a private family gathering
will be held at a later date.

LEBEDOFF _ Julie passed away peacefully in her home on July 13, 2007. She
leaves behind her family to whom she was always devoted: her husband Al of
39 years, her son Seven, her daughters Sevena (Al) and Stephanie and her
young beloved grandchildren, Alyssa and Aden. Julie was born on June 30,
1948 in Victoria, BC. She grew up in Castlegar where she met and married Al
and started a family. In 1969 Julie, Al and family moved to Ladner where
they made enduring friendships. Julie was a tireless homemaker caring for
her 3 children and supporting their school activities, raising chickens,
decorating and redecorating, welcoming a wide variety of family pets and
out-doing her 3 sisters in preparing healthy food, baking bread and
delicious desserts. Two neighbors introduced fitness into her life and she
took up jogging. At age 30, Julie came in first in the women's open 8k run
in the Ladner Sports Festival. In her early 40s Julie began a long struggle
with multiple sclerosis (MS). She approached the disease with a positive and
selfless attitude as she did with everything in life. Although MS made her
give up the activities she loved she never stopped being a caring mother,
sister, wife and friend. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you
consider making a donation to the MS Society of Canada. A Memorial Service
for Julie will be held on Tuesday July 17th at 1pm at Delta Funeral Home in
Ladner, with reception to follow.
