BELTRAN _ Alex (Alejandro Eduardo Jose) November 29, 1969 - July 12, 2007 It
is with the deepest and most agonizing sadness that I announce the passing
of my soul mate, my inspiration, and my best friend forever. He was an
adoring husband, father, son, brother, uncle and a dedicated and
compassionate friend and veterinarian. Alex was our hero, our champion, and
our cruise director. He had a fierce love for life and adventure and he
demonstrated it by the mountains he climbed, the races he participated in
and the number of sports he could complete in a day. Despite his passion,
and incredible talent for sports of any kind, his family was the center of
his universe. He never ceased to show his love and adoration for myself or
his two amazing children. With an open door, and an attentive ear, he was
very dedicated to his countless friends and acquaintances. It was love at
first sight, all those years ago, and we embarked upon the adventure of our
lifetime. We have two amazing children, and at least 40 years of memories
after only 13 years of marriage. He has gone to the waiting arms of his
mother Berta Lucia who passed away in 1996. He is lovingly remembered, and
adored by his wife and best friend Cherri, son Tristian Alexander (12),
daughter Kalissa Lucia (7), father Eduardo and his wife Jordana, sister
Claudia, brother Andres, brother and sister-in-law Mark and Kerry, treasured
nieces Catarina, Isabella, and Ella. Also lovingly remembered by Cherri's
mother and step-dad; Wendy and Percy; Cherri's father Tony, Cherri's brother
Richard, brother and sister-in-law Jason and Nicole, Cherri's aunt Kim and
uncle Greg and family, and many relatives and great friends. A celebration
of Alex's life will be held on Tuesday July 17 at 4:00pm at Gracepoint
Community Church, 3487 King George Hwy. Reception to follow. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to The Alex Beltran Memorial Fund through the
care of Coast Hills Community Church, 17400 - 56 Avenue (#10 Hwy), Surrey,

MATHEWS _ William Charles January 20, 1919 to July 13, 2007 William (Bill),
our beloved Dad, passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 13th at
Royal Columbian Hospital with his family gathered at his side. Dad was born
in 1919 at his parents home on Oxford Street in North Burnaby, grew up on
the Heights, enlisted in the Canadian Scottish Regiment (Victoria division)
in 1940, and was shipped to Europe in 1943 to serve as a Canadian soldier in
WW II. A D-Day vet, Dad returned home in 1946, began a career with the Royal
Bank, married his beautiful Welda from the CN Telegraph office, built a home
on the street where he grew up, and fathered two daughters, Kathleen Grace
and Marilyn Esther. Dad had an independent, unorthodox spirit and was known
for living life as he wanted, speaking his mind, and painting the houses
where he lived in colours as memorable as he was- lime green, pink and
brilliant yellow. He introduced his daughters to the things he loved - the
wilderness, camping, fishing, fly tying, stamp collecting, and nightly walks
with "Prince" the dog. His daughters remember him for so many
characteristics - his sense of humour, his idea of a good lunch (sardines
followed by donuts), and the cartoon he drew for them every night before
they went to sleep (a guy with a big nose and an even bigger cigar). Dad
retired in 1977 and fulfilled his dream of moving with his wife Welda to
Deka Lake in the Caribou. Some years after Welda's death, Dad moved to
Kamloops where he lived until March of this year, when illness befell him.
He spent the last few months of his life receiving wonderful care at Eagle
Ridge Hospital and briefly at George Derby Center. His family will be
forever grateful to the respectful and compassionate caregivers who helped
Dad towards the end of his life. Bill is predeceased by his wife Welda and
his sister Esther (Mel), and is survived by his two daughters Kathleen and
Marilyn (Allan); his grandchildren Danna (Brett), Carey and Christopher; his
nieces Carol and Patty (Barry); and his nephew who looks just like him, Bob
(Pam). Family and friends are invited to a celebration of our wonderful,
one-of-a-kind father and grandfather, which will be held at his daughter
Marilyn's home, 3325 Rosalie Court in Coquitlam, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday,
July 22, 2007. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's honour can be made to
the George Derby Centre for Veterans, 7550 Cumberland Street, Burnaby, B.C.
V3N 3X5. We remember you always, Dad.
