APPLETON _ Betty Dorothy passed away peacefully on July 15, 2007 in Maple
Ridge BC at the age of 79 years. Predeceased by her husband Alfred and
sisters Connie and Thelma, Betty is survived by brother Robert, sisters Vera
(Bert), Phyllis (Ron), Alice (Louie), daughters Marlene (John), Jamie (Bill)
and son Terry (Judy). "Nan" is also survived by grandchildren Brad, Becky,
Sean, Greg and Brianna and great-granddaughter Chelsey. She also leaves a
loving extended family of nieces, nephews and a circle of friends who filled
her life with love and laughter. Betty will always be remembered for her
kind spirit, devotion to family and friends and her wonderful sense of
humor. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 29,
2007 in the lower auditorium of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #88, 12104,
224th Street, Maple Ridge, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the charity of your choice.

ARCHINI _ Linda Joan Elizabeth (Emberly) Archini, born October 26, 1940,
passed away gracefully and with great ease on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at
Vancouver General Hospital. Always a classy lady, she remained in good
spirits and serene throughout her illness, and was very grateful for all the
help given to her by so many in her final months. Her closest friends will
gather to honour her privately on Saturday morning, July 21. Peace be unto
you, Linda.

BARRON _ Jack Wilson Born November 13th, 1919 in Vancouver, British Columbia
passed away peacefully at the age of 87 at Peace Arch Hospital in White
Rock, BC with his loving wife Norma, of 61 years, daughters Judith Begley
and Mary Anne McMahon by his side. He is also survived by his grandsons and
wives Darcy (Sue), Ryan (Amy), Darrell (Erin) and Terry, along with
great-grandsons Caleb and Ryder and very devoted son-in-law Pat. He retired
after 21 years from Barron & Ferguson Trucking in 1981. Nana and Papa spent
many wonderful years at their home away from home at Lake Whatcom in
Washington State. Respecting his wishes, there will be no service. A special
thank you to all the staff at Peace Arch Hospital Palliative care for their
dedicated care and support. Jack's spirit will continue to live on in all of
us whose lives he touched.

BOURQUE _ Roger Joseph Roger was born June 13, 1937 and passed away
unexpectedly but peacefully on Tuesday, July 17th, 2007 after a prolonged
illness. Roger is survived by his children Paul, Andre and Christopher;
brothers Fern and Roland, sister Eliode Ann and his father Laurent. Roger
loved the theatre business and spent many years as owner / operator of
several theatres. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his family
and friends. A evening prayer service will be held on Monday, July 23 at
7:00pm in the chapel at Avalon Surrey Funeral Home, 13288 - 108th Avenue,
Surrey, B.C. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at 11:00am at
Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church 10460 -139 St., Surrey, B.C.

BRINKMAN _ William Joseph. Bill passed away peacefully in his home on July
11, 2007, at the age of 65 years. He is survived by his loving family, wife
Sheila Noer; daughters Susan Lukawesky (Wayne), Cathy Tabin (Grant), Deborah
Zeitner (Wayne); step-son Randy Noer (Christa) and brother-in-law Norman
Pennie. Bill will also be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his nine
grandchildren Chantel, Carly, Michael, Hannah, Riley, Jennifer, Tanya,
Chelsea and Kaitlin. Bill's favourite hobbies were fishing, hunting and an
incredible green thumb when tending to his prize winning tomatoes in his
backyard. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at the Army, Navy & Air
Force Veterans Unit No. 100 on July 26, 2007 from 1-3pm at 2211 Kingsway
Street in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, family and friends so wishing may
make a memorial donation to the BC Lung Association or a charity of your
choice.

CARTER _ Florence Joan (JD and Nan), 1924 - 2007, at age 83, surrounded by
her loved ones, passed away peacefully at UBC Hospital. Joan's entire life
was dedicated to her husband and her children. She will be missed and loved
for eternity. These last few weeks have been a complete celebration of
everything she stood for in her life- dedication to family and friends. Her
vivacious spirit and lust for life touched everyone. She taught her family
to be the best they could be. Joan will always be remembered and loved by
Vic (Poor) her great husband of 35 years and by her daughters Paddy
Donaldson, Cathy Denroche Browne, Hilary Kennedy, Gretchen Goodliffe,
Adrienne Radford and her sons Peter Denroche, Buzz Denroche, and all
spouses. She will also never be forgotten by her 17 grandchildren and her 8
great-grandchildren. JD as she loved to be called, was the first WRCN
(Woman's Royal Canadian Navy) in Montreal during the Second World War. After
her first husband Denis Denroche, one of the first coastal pilots of BC
Airlines, passed away in 1957, she raised her 4 children, became an
outstanding school teacher and for the next 14 years, studied and obtained
her Bachelor degree at night school at UBC. She fell in love with Vic Carter
and was married in 1972. The family of four became seven and her family was
exceptionally close and totally in love. JD was one of the founding members
of the Arbutus Club in Vancouver. She and Vic spent 3 days per week up until
May of this year working out in the gym to keep in fabulous shape. She had
many, many friends throughout her entire life, loved to travel with Vic
around the world, loved to cook, sew, learn different languages and just be
a fabulous parent and wife. The family would like to thank the tremendous
staff at the hospital at UBC who gave not only fabulous care and support,
but also fell in love with JD (Mum) during the last 6 weeks of her life. The
memorial service will be held at the Arbutus Club and will be announced
within the next while. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to
Canuck Place Children's Hospice.

D'ONOFRIO _ Giovanni, born in Bagnoli Del Trigno, Italy in 1927, passed away
on July 18, 2007. He is predeceased by his wife Ledina. Giovanni is survived
by his loving family, son Enrico (Mary), and daughter Egidia (Peter);
grandchildren Marco, David, Carlo, and Claudia. He also leaves his brother
Pietro (Giuseppina) and sister Filomena, relatives and many nieces, nephews
and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Yaletown House. Prayers
will be offered on Monday, July 23 at 6:30pm from St. Francis of Assisi
Catholic Church, 2025 Napier Street, Vancouver, where the Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 24 at 10:00am. Entombment to

2007 at the age of 65 years. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Glenda and

FISHER _ Gary Fredrick Robert 1952 - 2007 Gary suddenly went to be with
Jesus on Sunday July 15, 2007 at 55 years old. Gary was predeceased by his
father George Alfred Fisher. Left behind to celebrate Gary's life is his
beloved wife of 31 years Karen, his loving children Lindsay, Ashley and
Shaun, his adorable grandchildren Tia and Kayla. Mother Marie Chasson,
mother-in-law Gertrude Krause, many, many extended family and friends. He
was a joyful good hearted man full of life with ambitious plans for the
future dedicated to his family and his God. Gary was a Helicopter
Maintenance Engineer a career that took him around the world and connected
him professionally and personally to many interesting people of whom many
are friends to this day. Gary will be greatly missed by all. Public
visitation is 11:00am, Burial to follow at 12:00 pm., Celebration of his
life is 1:00pm, and all located at South Abbotsford Mennonite Brethren

FORSTER _ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claire
Florence Forster. Claire lived her entire life in West and North Vancouver
and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her two
sons, Brad and Jamie and will finally rejoin her beloved husband, Burt.
Claire was born February 1st, 1921 and passed away peacefully in Lions Gate
Hospital on July 16th, 2007. There will be a Memorial Service held on
Wednesday, July 25th at 3:00 p.m. at St. Stevens Church, 885 22nd Street,
West Vancouver.

GUMUCHIAN _ Levon passed away July 18, 2007. Survived by his loving wife

HESP _ Kenneth Leonard March 5, 1934 - July 16, 2007 at DeltaView Care Home
in the presence of his loving family after a fight to the end. Ken is
survived by his wife of 47 years Helen; son Kevin (Claire); daughter
Allison; numerous family and friends. We would like to acknowledge the many
people at Riverview Geriatric Ward for their respect, comfort and love in

HIGGINS _ Hilda Margaret born on March 17th, 1909 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.
Passed away peacefully at home on July 17th, 2007 surrounded by her family.
Predeceased by loving husband Edward in 1989, Hilda will be lovingly
remembered by her daughter Patricia (Edward Berda), two sons Edward (Leigh
Ann) and Richard (Diana Robinson); four grandchildren Alan Berda and Scott
Berda and Emma and Kathleen Higgins; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Hilda was admired for her strong spirit. She had a very kind and thoughtful
heart, made friends easily and was a good friend to have. Family was most
important and Hilda always could be counted on for support and
encouragement. She enjoyed a good game of crib or a hand of bridge. She was
an inspiration to her family, keeping herself in good health and showing
interest in the world around her. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of

KAMENSEK _ Robert Powell Rob Kamensek passed away quietly on Thursday, July
19, 2007 after a bout with cancer. He is survived by his wife Elsie and two
daughters, Melissa and Michelle, brothers: George (Laurelyn), Chris (Laura),
Tony, Len (Jill), sister Diana (Kevin), and parents (Christine and Anton).
Rob spent his career at RBC Dominion Securities and was active in the Delta
Community. He was an avid golfer and could be found most Wednesday
afternoons at Beach Grove enjoying his favourite past time. Thank you for
all the support from the BC Cancer Clinic, Delta Hospital, Home Support
Staff and many friends. There will be a gathering of family and friends in
celebration of Rob's life from 2:00 - 5:00 pm, Wednesday, July 25th at Beach
Grove Golf Club, 5946 - 12th Avenue, Tsawwassen. In lieu of flowers,

KERR _ Patrick Michael July 18, 1922 - July 17, 2007 It is with great sorrow
that we announce the unexpected passing of our father and husband due to
complications with pneumonia. Patrick was predeceased by five of his seven
brothers, his parents and his son-in-law (John). He leaves to grieve, his
wife Dorothy, with whom he enjoyed 61 years of loving marriage. Over the
past twenty years they have traveled and cruised the world, always hand in
hand, always enjoying each and every moment together. Pat also leaves his
one and only daughter Maureen McBeath (John) of Sechelt, and her family
Brent, Bruce (Trish). Mourning his loss are his two remaining brothers
Gerald (Betty) and Dan (Maura) and his sister-in-law Gladys, along with many
members of the Kerr, Gurney and Wanklyn families. A member of the RAF during
WWII, Pat met his wife while training in Madley, Herefordshire. They
immigrated to Canada in 1957 and built a wonderful life in their new
country, After 11 years in Saskatchewan they came to B.C. where Pat became
the Purchasing Manager for (FVMPA) Dairyland. He was a member of the
Purchasing Assoc. of B.C. and President of the organization for some years.
He will be remembered as a talented Irish Tenor. Pat sang with many groups
including the Hollyburn Singers. A highlight of his singing career was
performing in the Opera Aida in both Vancouver and Japan. Patrick leaves
behind not only family but many, many friends both in the Vancouver area and
in Palm Springs where he and Dorothy spent fifteen winters as "Snow Birds".
We wish to thank Dr. Scott and all the staff at Lions Gate Hospital for
their care and attention during his brief illness. We suggest donations to
the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation in lieu of flowers. A Funeral Mass will
be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 599 Keith Rd., West
Vancouver at 11:00 am, July 24th, 2007.

KIRKWOOD _ Don "Mad Dog" July 22nd, 1950 - October 24th, 2005 Two years have
passed since Don died suddenly in a house fire. Don was planning on going
goldpanning, oh how we wish you had made it! Now you are goldpanning in the
sky. Sadly missed and remembered by his brother Ken (Gwen) and many, many,
friends.

KLAASEN _ Elizabeth of West Vancouver, (formerly Cape Town, South Africa)
passed away peacefully, on July 17, 2007, aged 93, with her family by her
side. Predeceased by her husband Henry. She will be lovingly remembered and
will be forever cherished and missed by her son Lance (Eileen) of Campbell
River, daughters Joyce and Vivienne of North Vancouver and Linda (Cyril) of
Squamish, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many family and
friends. Funeral service will be held at the Parish of St. Martins, 195
Windsor (upper Lonsdale) North Vancouver, on July 24th, 2007 at 1:30 pm.

KLUDASH _ Robert (Bob) David, passed away June 5, 2007 at age 73.
Predeceased by his mother Emma, father Friedric, brothers William, Edward
and Donald, and sister Anne Bourdon. Survived by nieces and nephews.

KRAMARIC _ Frank Michael born October 31, 1931 passed away peacefully on
Saturday July 7, 2007 at the Marion Hospice in Vancouver B.C. with his dear
friends by his side. Frank will be greatly missed and remembered by his
god-daughters, Hailey and Lara and by his many friends and associates for
his kindness of spirit, his generosity of heart and his passion for
integrity. Frank will now go with God and once more reunite with his beloved
mother, Dorothy. A service will be held on Wednesday, July 25th, 2007 at
9:30 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Cathedral located at 646 Richards St. in
Vancouver. Donations may be made to either the B.C. Cancer Society or the
Union Gospel Mission.

KUSMIN _ Paul Paavo Born November 22nd, 1923, Passed away peacefully on July
16th, 2007 at Burnaby Hospital. He is survived by his wife Vieno, sons
Walter and Vesa, daughter Ellen with their families. Paul was one of the
first Finnish missionaries to go to Kenya where he worked for 20 years. The
work took him also to Australia, Sweden, Finland, Russia, and Canada. His
many friends from around the world will remember him. Being fluent in many
languages helped him easily travel and he brought great stories and
wonderful memories. We would like to extend our appreciation to the staff of
Finnish Manor who showed such incredible compassion and caring for Paul.
Memorial service will be held on July 28th, 2007 at 2:00 pm at the Finnish
Manor Auditorium, 3460 Kalyk Ave., Burnaby BC.

LAGEY _ Nancy L., 79, of the 1700 block of Comox Street passed away Tuesday,
July 10, 2007 following a stroke. Nancy was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and
was a retired Librarian for the Vancouver City Library. She was the Library
Chairwoman for the Unitarian Church of Vancouver. Nancy was the daughter of
the late Aloysius Lison and the late Margaret Naumann Lison. She was the
widow of Dr. Joseph C. Lagey, having been married for 28 years. Nancy is
survived by her son, Christopher Lagey and his wife Murn of Virginia; her
daughter, Barbara Geer and her husband Chris of Maine; three sisters: Mary
Cobb of Florida; Peggy Ottinger of Wisconsin and Sue Bold of California; and
her brother, Captain John Lison of Culebra. Nancy is also survived by four
grandchildren: Erin and Joe Lagey; Rebecca and Abigail Geer. Nancy will be
remembered for her lively sense of humour, unceasing zest for life,
enthusiastic independence and her generous spirit. She loved her crossword
puzzles (done in ink), long walks along the Seawall of Stanley Park; her
quilting, exercise and potluck supper groups and was justly proud of
maintaining the Church Library via her notable Book Bash events. The family
wishes to thank her many friends who visited and sustained her during her
last weeks. Special thanks to the Doctors and Staff of Saint Paul's Hospital
in Vancouver for their tireless care and obvious affection for Nancy. She
finished her course knowing she was loved. A memorial service will be held
on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 in the Unitarian Church, 949 W. 49th Street,
Vancouver, at 7:00 pm by Rev. Phillip Hewett and Rev. Steven Epperson. A
private interment ceremony will be held by the family at another date. The
family requests that memorials may be made to the Unitarian Church in lieu
of flowers.

LAUER _ Arnold Norman Matthew, born February 23, 1925 in Humboldt,
Saskatchewan, was predeceased by his parents John and Emma Lauer; sisters
Jean Lauer, Alma Isaac and Francis McMurchy; brother Clifford Lauer and
son-in-law Danny Crum. Arnold served in the military in WWII as a dispatch
rider. He was badly injured and spent 36 months convalescing at Shaughnessy
Veteran's Hospital. He was proud to have brought his parents from
Saskatchewan to live with him here in Port Moody and later in Port Coquitlam
where he lived since 1954. He worked in the Flavelle Cedar Mill, the liquor
store, and later began a 25 year career as a Customs and Excise officer
retiring in 1980. He was a Port Moody Legion member for 52 years. He was
also an active member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic parish where he
volunteered as an alter server trainer. It was here he first met Ronny and
Roger Kugler and of course their mother, Rosanna. This soon led to Arnold
and Rosanna's "family affair" wedding. He is survived by his loving wife of
39 years, Rosanna; five children Diane Crum, Ron (Pam) Kugler, Lt. Colonel
Roger (Heather) Kugler, Bernadette (Tim) Edwards, Jean (Francois) Gagnon; 12
grandchildren Tisha (Richard) Carloss. Alec (Tammy Sidora) Kugler, Gordon
and Laurel Crum, Tyler. Kyle and Dylan Kugler, Jarett, Caleigh and Therese
Edwards, Katherine and Nicolas Gagnon as well as three great-grandchildren
Taylor and Ashton Carloss and Teya Kugler. He will be sadly missed by many
relatives in the Lauer, Kugler, Gauthier, Isaac, McMurchy, Houchen, Dobson,
Girard and Leroux families. He died as he lived, surrounded by loving family
and warm wishes at Eagle Ridge Hospital on July 19, 2007. He will be
remembered fondly by many in his extensive circle of friends and the

Shirley Miller August 31, 1957 - July 16, 2007 It is with great remorse we
announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother and mother-in-law.
Shirley will be missed by her six wonderful children Vicky, Vanessa, Teresa,

MILNE _ Helen Margaret (nee Schley) Helen passed away on July 15, 2007 at
the Royal Columbian Hospital, in New Westminster, B.C. Helen was born in
Trail, B.C. on August 19, 1925. She was one of seven children of Gustav
Schley and Mary Schley (Prince). Helen will be lovingly remembered by her
children, David (Geraldine), Clifford, Bonnie (Wayne) and Donald (Jeanette),
her grandchildren Steven, Raymond, Kevin, Zachary and Tyler, her sister
Irene, and several nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her sister
Olive and brothers Carl, Edward, John and William. After 29 years, Helen has
reunited with Alexander (Sandy) Milne. May they both rest in peace.

sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Darryl at the age of 60. He
passed away in the arms of his loving wife Eva of 40 years, daughter Sheri,

parents Harold and Leah. Darryl will always guard over and be in the hearts

2007 after a spirited battle with cancer, under the loving care of Queen's

SWEENY _ Suzanne Mary Cowperthwaite passed away peacefully in her home away
from home, North Range, Digby Co., NS at the home of her daughter Shelagh
and son-in-law, Abe on January 20, 2007 at around 7am. Sue was 84 years old
and had been battling lung cancer for over a year. She spent her last days
resting peacefully with a cat on her lap and her family and friends by her
side. She had moved from her home in Ottawa, ON, in Spring 2006. Sue will be
remembered as a loving, self sacrificing mother and grandmother who would do
anything for her family and friends. Her kind words and honesty shaped the
lives of everyone she knew. Sue enjoyed every moment of her life and was
fortunate enough to live a charmed life anyone would be envious of. She has
given her family and friends a lifetime of inspiration and beautiful
memories and we all feel fortunate to have known her. She is survived by her
twin brother Jerry, her three children, Shelagh, Alastair and Margot, by her
grandchildren, Andrew, Malcom, Ewan, Caroline, Trisha and Sophie and
great-granddaughter Masha. The family would also like to send sincere thanks
to all of the Doctors and Nurses that helped along the way. Sue was an
artist and has left behind her view of the world for us all to treasure. A

TAPANAINEN _ Kirsti Valma Marja After a courageous battle with a long
illness, our precious mother went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on July
12, 2007. Mom was born in Lapua, Finland on January 2, 1943 and led a full
and adventurous life, taking on new challenges and opportunities with
passion and vigor - including immigrating to Canada, raising four children,
Marie (Larry), Carolin (Mark), Sirkka (Rick) and Matti (Anne) and traveling
abroad to experience many cultures and peoples. She never believed in giving
up and instilled this ideal in us, her children, and her grandchildren whom
she loved immensely. We are eternally thankful to the Lord for giving us
such an amazing woman to mold and shape our lives. Until we meet her again
she will be forever in the hearts of both her family and friends in Canada
and Finland. Thank you to the nurses of Tri-Cities Palliative Home Care
Services - your support to us and our mother during her final weeks will
always be appreciated and remembered. Heartfelt thanks also to Dr. Haw and
team, and the NICU nurses at Vancouver General Hospital, for your expert

Gate Hospital, age 89. Jack was predeceased in 1973 by his wife, Daisy

Geordie Bryce Tocher, Adventurer April 8, 1927 to July 12, 2007 Geordie will
be dearly missed by all of his loving friends and family. He was a true
adventurer and lived life to its fullest. From his legendary "Voyage of the
Orenda" to his many missions to Mexico and beyond, he touched the lives of

the sudden passing of Rob van de Wetering on July 13, 2007 at the age of 70.

WELLS _ Shirley Ann (nee MacLeod) It is with great sadness that we announce
the peaceful passing of our loving wife and mother. Shirley leaves behind
her soul mate and loving husband of 50 years, Bill and their daughter Trish
(Todd). Shirley is survived by her brother John and her much younger sister
Merry Lynn as well as many nieces and nephews. Her passing will also be
mourned by her many friends and neighbours. Born in Vancouver, Shirley
married Bill in 1956 and together they raised their family before retiring
to the Okanagan. Shirley's life centered around her husband and family. She
enjoyed fishing, camping and the company of black Labrador retrievers and
good friends alike. Her strength, hospitality, positive outlook and courage
were an inspiration to many and so will live on forever. There is no doubt
that she enjoyed life to its fullest and had a ball doing it. Flowers are
