BAKER _ Reuben Trevor (Trev) With sadness and pain, I inform you that my
father passed away on July 9, 2007 at age 87. Born in Mountain Ash, Wales,
Dad emigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings in 1927, settling
first for a short period of time on the prairies and then moving to Luscar.
Alberta where his father again took work as a coal miner. Dad was
predeceased by his son Darryl (2006) his brothers Bill, Art, and Stan and
his sisters Ena and Annie. Sisters Peggy and Joyce continue to reside
respectively in Parksville and Vernon. On leaving school in grade nine, Dad
worked in the coal mine in the Luscar region, both below and above ground.
He left the mines to enlist in the Canadian Army shortly after the start of
WW II. Injured, while performing his duties in Canada, he received an
honourable discharge and moved to B.C. In 1943 he married Mary K Kurtz (his
bride for 64 years). He worked for the Boeing Aircraft Company (located on
Georgia St, near the entrance to Stanley Park), as a fisherman, and coal
truck driver before joining the City of Vancouver, Sewer Department as a
laborer in 1947. Never missing the opportunity to advance he drove truck,
became an equipment operator, assistant foreman, foreman, and then served as
Department Superintendent for 21years until his retirement in 1984. Dad took
active interest in all that surrounded him. He took leadership roles with
the Sunrise Park Community Association in the mid 1950s, within the
Vancouver Civic Employees 'CUPE' union through the 1950s and early 1960s, as
a director of the Civic Employees Credit Union, with several professional
organizations, and veterans organizations. 'Trev' will be remembered by all
who knew him for his get things done attitude, creative solutions,
integrity, fairness, and willingness to give a helping hand. He was inwardly
proud of his achievements but not a boastful man, a man who shared his
knowledge and wisdom with kindness and understanding. He will be missed by
all who knew him, particularly his immediate family: his wife Mary; son Gary
(Sheryl); grandsons Michael (Katie, great-grandson Ben), Dano (Kelly), and
Wes; daughter-in-law Leona; and dear friends Dee Alspach and Judy and Jim
Phillips. In lieu of flowers for the family, donations to the Canadian Lung
Association (for research and the treatment of Idopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis)
would be appreciated.

when her beloved horse became ill. Eleanor loved animals and she and Roy had
several horses, cats, dogs and birds over the years. Eleanore loved her
garden and it was always full of flowers and birds at the feeders. She also
had a love of art and enjoyed many years of watercolor painting. Eleanore lo

07/27/06 We little knew that morning God was going to call your name, In
Life we loved you dearly In death we do the same. It broke our hearts to
lose you You did not go alone, For part of us went with you The day God
called you home. You left us beautiful memories Your love is still our
guide, And although we cannot see you You are always at our side. Our family
chain is broken And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again. - Author Unknown Hard to believe it has been a

DORUITER _ Jacob (Jake) November 23, 1969 - July 23, 2007 Jacob (Jake)
Doruiter passed away on Monday, July 23, 2007 at the age of 37 years. Jake
was born in the small town of Nederhemert, The Netherlands on November 23,
1969. The whole family immigrated to Chilliwack, Canada in 1981 when he was
just eleven. From there they moved to Sarnia, ON, then Chicago, IL,
Edmonton, AB, before settling in Calgary in 1991. Graduating from the
University of Calgary, he then established a successful career as a
geophysicist. Jake's spirited nature was reflected in his many loves;
travelling the globe, preparing delicious meals, bowling and gaming with
friends and singing with the Men's choir. Jake was an extremely generous
person by nature, always finding ways to spoil his friends and especially
his nephews. Seeing the big smiles on their faces was reason enough for him
to put others needs ahead of his own. In the recent past, he battled
courageously with cancer and beat it. Even though it returned this year, he
did not let it interfere with his concerns for those around him. From our
hearts, we say to you our dear son, brother and friend; we will miss you
dearly until we are able to meet again in another place that will hold
better things for all us. Jake is lovingly remembered by his parents, Gerrit
and Gerrie Doruiter; his sister Corinne and brother Frank (Ronda); and his
nephews Max, Gerrit and Josh. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS &

sense of right and wrong. We are all the richer for having known and loved
her and for having been loved by her. The family would like to extend a
special thank you to Eileen Caughey and Cy Panganiban for their tremendous
support and our appreciation to the doctors and nursing staff at VGH for
their care and kindness during Sylvia's last days there. A private service

passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Langley Memorial
Hospice on Saturday, July 21, 2007. Penny will be remembered always by her
loving family: Mum Enid; sister Lesley (Gerry); nieces Kristine (Kris, and
"Grandson" Timothy), Kari (Mauro), and Katy (Chris); Dan and his mother

Penny's positive spirit touched us all. Born in Vancouver, B.C. 56 years

Teacher's Certificate and a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies from SFU,
Penny taught at the elementary level in the Langley School District for over
35 years, celebrating her retirement from Betty Gilbert Elementary this past
June. She was well-loved by generations of students and was also very
involved in extra-curricular school programs such as the Ski Club, Choir,
Jump Rope for Heart, the Knitting Club and the Salmon Enhancement Project.
Penny was always athletic and especially enjoyed running, golfing, and
skiing. Penny ran the Vancouver Sun Run annually, completed the Weekend to
End Breast Cancer in 2006, and the Relay for Life in 2006 and 2007. It was
through her running club that she became close friends with Jaye & Dan, who
remained faithfully at Penny's side to the end. Some of Penny's many hobbies
included traveling, knitting, reading, volunteering, dining out with
friends, or enjoying a cup of coffee at a local cafe. She volunteered her
time at Langley C.A.R.E.S. Animal Shelter and was an active member of her
church. Penny was always putting others ahead of herself and was a generous,
loving, and compassionate daughter, sister, aunt, friend and neighbour. In
November, 2006, she also adopted the new title of Grandma Penny with the
arrival of her grand-nephew, Timothy. A celebration of Penny's incredible
life will be held on Monday, July 30th, 11:00 am at Aldergrove United
