BALATSAS _ Leo (Leonidas) Born on February 26, 1928 in Arkitsa, Lokridos,
Greece. Passed away peacefully on July 27, 2007 in the presence of his
loving family. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years Elizabeth;
daughters Eleni and Nikki and her husband Dennis; grandchildren Dimitri and
Elissa. Survived by his brother, sister, nieces and nephews and many
friends. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 7:30 pm at St.
George's Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4500 Arbutus Street, Vancouver. A funeral
service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 12:00 Noon. Burial to
follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Burnaby. Father Demetrios Partsafas
officiating.

BATLEY _ Evelyn Victoria (nee Ray) passed away peacefully at her home in
Birch Bay Village, Blaine, WA, on July 21, 2007. Evelyn was born in
Vancouver, B.C. and spent most of her life in Vancouver and West Vancouver.
She and husband Gordon moved to Birch Bay Village in 1994 where they have
lived out their lives. She leaves behind 2 sisters Jean Schwary
(Fred-deceased) and Helen Nicola (Ray), both of Portland, Oregon and a
brother E. J. "Bud" Ray of West Vancouver. She had 10 nieces and nephews and
numerous grandnieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Mildred Batley
(Len-deceased), and nephew Gordon R. Batley. Evelyn will be missed by her
family and her many, many friends. The Memorial service will be held at
Jerns McKinney Funeral Chapel in Blaine, August 4th, 2007 at 2 p.m. and
presided by The Rev. Mr. Francis Potts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to Whatcom Hospice, 800 E. Chestnut, Suite 1-C, Bellingham, WA 98225;
Visiting Angels, 4213 Rural Ave., Bellingham, WA 98226; or a charity of your
choice.

CORKERY _ Barbara Ann Born October 6, 1941, passed away peacefully July 17,
2007. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 15 years Ken Grasser, her
loving children Anthony, Eileen and Kevin and her little star of a
grandchild Jessica; her mom Katherine. Predeceased by her father Gordon.
Celebration of her life will be held at Avalon Funeral Home in Surrey at
10am, August 8th, 2007.

CREIGHTON _ Margaret-Mary Edna (nee Davison). Peacefully on July 26, 2007 in
her 81st year, after a brave battle with failing health. Born February 18,
1927 at a railway siding in Sask. Lived the 1st half of her life in
Vancouver, B. C. and the later half in London, Ont. Always intellectually
curious and independent, she encouraged those around her to live life to the
fullest. She will be lovingly missed by her son Robert Creighton and partner
Elaine Porteous of Elora. Dearest grandmother of Matthew Creighton, Julianne
Foote, Crystal Foote and great grandmother of Jada-Lynn. Predeceased by
brothers Robert and Jack and sisters Marie and Vera and also her parents
William and Cordelia. At Margaret's request there will be no visitation or
funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Those wishing to honour her
memory may do so by making a donation to Groves Memorial Community Hospital

DOMAN _ HARBANSE (HERB) SINGH Herb passed away peacefully at the Cowichan
District Hospital on July 25, 2007, surrounded by his loved ones.
Predeceased by his father Doman Singh, his mother Purab Kaur, his brother
Gurdial (Gordy) and his sister Harbans Kaur (Bonso). Herb leaves behind his
loving wife of 52 years, Harjinder (Helen), daughters Darcia, Sherry,
Verinda and son Jaspaul (Ricky), brother Didar (Ted), sister Mahinder Kaur,
grandson Jeevan and granddaughters Natasha, Sienna and Jennece; as well as
numerous neices, nephews, other relatives and friends. Herb was born in
Kings Daughters Hospital in Duncan on April 9, 1932. He was raised in Paldi
(Old Hillcrest) Duncan, where he had resided since. Herb married his wife
Helen in 1955, first living on Holmes St., then Briar St. and finally to
their home at which they reside in today at Cherry Point. Herb started his
first company in 1952, starting with a single sawdust truck and using the
only tools at his disposal. Incorporated in 1955 and went public in 1968. He
was Chairman, President and CEO of Doman Industries for 50 years. Herb will
be greatly missed by his family and his community for his kindness,
generosity, integrity, trust and particularly his loyalty to his roots,
family and most importantly his mini valued entrusted employees who stood by
Herb from the beginning. He will be "Loved" by all who new him. Following
the death of his father, Herb at age 12 went to work to support his family.
Starting with a dream, one small truck hauling fuel and lumber, he created a
successful trucking company, building supply stores and lumber yards, going
on to found Doman Industries in 1955. After taking the company public in
1964, Herb built his first sawmill in 1968 which led to the establishment of
a fully integrated forest products empire of sawmills, pulp mills and
logging operations. As founder, Chairman, President and CEO of Doman
Industries Limited, for fifty years he provided over 5,000 forestry related
jobs for BC families. Herb Doman was a man of great courage, honor and
integrity; he was known for his heart felt generosity and service to his
community; a true pillar of the Cowichan Valley. Herb lived by his own set
of values: loyalty and devotion to his family, the community and respect for
his employees. They were his strength and motivation. His determination,
strong business ethics and respect for his employees contributed to his
success. Herb will be greatly missed by his family and remembered as a great
man who was loved by all. The family would like to express a special thank
you to Doctors Toyota, Gloster, Roy, Spence and Pewarchuk, all the nursing
and support staff at the Cowichan District Hospital's emergency ward and 2nd
floor for the special care and support given to Mr. Doman. A very special
thank you to Herb's in home caregivers; Kate, Michelle, Laurie, Sheila and
Linda. A Celebration of Herb's life will be held in the New Life Baptist
Church, 1839 Tzouhalem Road, Duncan, BC on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 10:30
a.m. Cremation at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens followed by a Service at
Paldi Temple. Friends are invited to the family home following the service
for a time of refreshment and reflection. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests contributions to be made in the name of Herb Doman to Cowichan

ESTEREICHER _ Diane Mary born in Vancouver, BC on August 15, 1957. Diane
passed away peacefully on July 27, 2007 at VGH after a long and courageous
battle with breast cancer. Predeceased by her father George, Diane will be
lovingly remembered by her mother Regina, sister Rosemary (Dan) Hunter and
her nephews and niece Brent, Christine and Kyle. Funeral mass will be held
at Holy Family Church, 4851 Beatrice Street in Vancouver (32nd Ave. and
Beatrice off Victoria Drive) at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 1, 2007.
Father Benno Burghardt celebrant. internment will follow at Oceanview Burial
Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC
Cancer Foundation - Breast Cancer Research, in memory of Diane Estereicher

survived by his parents, Mirko and Magdalena and his sister, Veronika.

MacLEAN _ Rachel J. September 29, 1927 - July 14, 2007. Predeceased by her
mother, father and husband Hugh. Survived by her children, David, Brian
(Sue), Malcolm (Debbie) and Diane; her grandchildren Scott, Ryan, Trevor,
Jessica, David, Katie, Maxwell and great-granddaughter Sydney. Rachel was
born in England and moved to Canada with her husband in 1949. A long time
resident of North Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast, Rachel raised her
children and went on to become a Social Worker in the Lower Mainland and the
Sunshine Coast, a job she held for a great number of years. She will be very
much missed by her family. No service by request. In lieu of flowers,
donations to the Rachel MacLean Prize in Social Work at UBC would be very
much appreciated.

MALEK _ Joseph, aged 85 years, passed away at Langley, B.C. on July 18,
2007. He is sadly missed by his best friend June Barker; son Alard Malek
(Louise); daughter, Dagmar McKenzie (Neil); grandson, Curtis Foreman
(Lindsie); step-grandchildren, Aaron and Kelly Bisson, and Charlene Ann
Fleming; and great-grandchildren, Devon Kroeker, Jasmine Fleming, Katrina
Fleming, Alyssa Bisson, and Kyra Bisson; as well as many relatives and
friends. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Ethel May Malek (1992). A
Service will be held at Henderson's Langley Funeral Home, 20786 Fraser
Highway, Langley, B.C., on Thursday, August 2nd at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundations.

MOREAU _ Elma Rose Elma Rose Moreau was born Alma Rosalie Machan on December
17, 1920 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and spent her childhood years in Flin
Flon, Manitoba. As a teenager, Elma wrote about northern life for the
Winnipeg Free Press. After high school, she moved to Toronto and continued
to write during the war years. She filed stories for the Christian Science
Monitor and the Star Weekly. An editor at the Toronto Star praised her
writing in a letter saying she must go to New York City to pursue her
career. Instead she married, first to American Roger Knapp, who served in
the RCAF but was killed in 1944. She re-married in 1945, to RCAF navigator
J.G. Jerry Moreau. They were married 30 years, had four children and lived
in Churchill, Manitoba and Prince George, B.C. before settling in Vancouver
in 1956 where Jerry built two successful businesses. In the 1970's, Elma
obtained her driver's license and real estate license that afforded her a
lucrative career as a realtor. An artist and avid gardener, her passion was
always writing. She turned to the blank page to fill with her tempestuous
energy. Her vibrant intellect stayed with her to the very end. On her last
day of life her children gathered around her to share stories from their
childhood. She died peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2007. Thanks to staff
of Burquitlam Lions Care Centre for their attentiveness and a very grateful
thanks to Elizabeth Pticek, for the friendship and consideration she shared
in mom's final year. Elma Rose Machan Moreau is predeceased by her two
husbands, by sisters Kathleen Fagrie and Margaret Volden, and by grandsons
Tyler Moreau and Davin Walrond. She is survived by her sister Madeline
Cyluck, children Margaret Conn (Shane), David Moreau (Luba), Bethany Walrond
(Larry), and Vivian Moreau, as well as grandchildren Geoffrey (Rumi) and
Jeremy (Tamara) Conn, Andre (Jone) and Larissa Walrond, Jennifer Moreau and
Ceileidh and Elizabeth Sager, and three great-grandchildren Alexander and
Nicole Conn and Adaea Walrond. She was interred at Langley Lawn Cemetery on
July 19, 2007. A celebration of her life will be held at 6110 Price Street,
Burnaby, on Sunday, August 5, 2007 from 2 - 5 p.m. Bring stories.

STREET _ Alfred John April 16, 1924 to June 22, 2007 Alfred John Street
passed away peacefully at Sagebrush Lodge in Osoyoos, BC in the wonderful
care of staff there on July 22, 2007. He was born in Raydon, Alberta, April
16, 1924. He moved with his family to Vancouver and later resided in
Cloverdale, Quesnel and the Okanagan. He is predeceased by his sister Mary,
his ex-wife and friend Naomi and his son Patrick. Alfred is survived by sons
James, David (Cathy), Mike (Jennifer), Ken, Ron, Lennie (Michelle),
daughters Megan (Autumn), Kim (Tony), Sheila (Joe), Debbie (Les) and many
grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers Gerry (Elsie), William
(Martha), Peter (Mary), Doc (June), cousins Art (Sheila) and Harold as well
as a large extended family that was very important to him. A Funeral Mass
will be held at All Saints Parish, 1405 Como Lake Avenue, Coquitlam on
Monday, July 30, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Celebrant Fr. Anicet Pinto. Arrangements

TELEP _ (NICK) JOHN Passed away July 27th, 2007 at the age of 93 years.
Predeceased by his wife Bernice and granddaughter Laurie-Anne. Nick will be

WALKER _ It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of
Roland George on July 24, 2007. Much loved husband, father, grandfather and
brother, Roland is survived by Bertha, his wife of fifty years, son Curtis,
daughters Shannon Browne (Peter) , Heather, and Desiree Hicks (Alexander);
grandsons Pierson and Oliver; brother Graham (Anne); niece Mariah and
family. Roland was born September 22nd, 1930, in Barking, Sussex, England.
At seventeen he and his father ventured to Canada, the rest of the family
joining them the following year to build their first home in Toronto. Roland
had a life long love of sailing and the sea and was captivated by the beauty
of the West Coast while vacationing here in 1949. Within the year he had
made Vancouver his home. Roland was a gifted musician. As a youth in England
he played pipe organ for the church and cinema while studying classical
piano and completing his conservatory accreditation. His passion for the
piano and choral music lead him in 1953 to join the choir of Christ Church
Cathedral, where he met and later married the love of his life, Bertha. In
1962 Roland and Bertha settled on the North Shore to raise their family and
became valued members in the choir and life of St. Catherine's Church.
Roland was a respected business owner and member of the construction
industry in British Columbia for over forty years. He will be remembered for
his many contributions to the BCICA, TIAC and the VRCA. He enjoyed being
involved until his very last day. We wish to thank Dr. Nancy Crossen, the
nurses and all the staff at Lions Gate Hospital for their care and attention
this past year. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to
the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation in his name. A memorial service will be
held on Thursday, August 2nd, 2:00pm at St. Catherine's Anglican Church,
1058 Ridgewood Drive, North Vancouver.

WALSH _ Elizabeth Janet (nee Houston) July 23, 1916 - July 26, 2007 Survived
by her loving family, son Bill; daughter Betty; daughter-in-law Kirsten;
granddaughters Eileen (Jack Chen), and Karin. Predeceased by her husband
George in 1999 and her son John in 1997. She will be sorely missed by her
family and friends at Shaughnessy Heights United Church and her French club,
les Sans Soucis. Elizabeth founded the group in 1954 to preserve their
conversational French. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August
1, 2007 at 2:00 pm. at Shaughnessy Heights United Church, 1550 West 33rd
Ave., Vancouver. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the

WOOD _ Ray September 17, 1928 - July 28, 2007 With great sadness we announce
that Ray passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. He is
lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Greta, with whom he shared 54
wonderful years of marriage, sons David, Doug, Glenn, daughter Nancy and
husband Al, two cherished grandchildren Kelly and Reid, and many family and
friends. Ray was a man of strength, generosity, compassion and patience. He
had a humorous outlook on life and brought much joy and laughter into our
lives. There will be a celebration of Ray's life on Saturday, August 4,
2007, at 1411 Purcell Drive, Coquitlam, from 2 - 4 p.m. Family, friends and
neighbours welcome. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Royal
Columbian Hospital, Cancer Research or a charity of choice. Dearly loved
