Hi Clara

Enjoyed your message on the web concerning the Coats family.

My Coats line is Christopher Coats of Sullivan Co., TN. who
was born in VA. in 1788 and was in Sullivan Co., TN. by 1790
when his brother William was born. Christopher married Elizabeth
Barr in 1811 in Sullivan Co., Tn.

My grandmother, Mamie King Coats, married my grandfather,
Jacob Shipley in Collin Co., TX. in 1903. Maybe we have a
connection.

I have worked for years trying to determine the parents of
Christopher and William, but only have clues. Sullivan Co., TN.
is a burned county and very few records have survived.
