Hello to any potential kinfolks, and hello to all. I am the Community
Librarian of the Bryan+College Station Public Library System in Texas.
I am about to undergo the restoration of the oldest Carnegie Library in
Texas and open it as a family history library. I appreciate that
genealogists are serious users of libraries. Our collection has
strength in the states in the migratory patterns to Texas and we look
forward to expanding when we move to the Carnegie in 1998. Then you can
expect that we will offer help to those of you who can't make a trip to
Texas.

My father was Thomas Jefferson Coats and his grandfather was alos Thomas
Jefferson Coats. He married Mary Ann Stewart in 1858 in Lincoln County,
Tenn. He enlisted in the 8th Tennessee Infantry Regiment in Sept 15
1862 and was by profession a farmer and stonemason. He moved his family
to Collin Co., Texas in 1882 and he died in 1913 and is buried in a
cemetery in Allen, TX. My nephew< Larry D. Coats, has done extensive
research on my father's side of the family but we don't have a complete
generation for these folks. I'm just getting use to the ways of
searching as I didn't specialize in genealogy research. At our public
library we have about 74 CDs (some from the Utah guys) and others, so
I'm fast learning.

Would enjoy hearing from any Texas Coats folks. And if I have info I
would be glad to share it.

I'm on annual leave and just cruising some good genealogy sites. I
lived in Wash. DC for four years and didn't have the interest when I was
so near resoures.

Let me hear from you folks.
