I was stumbling around on the web tonight, and while this isn't my
ancestor, I thought maybe one of you might qualify:

Surname: Coulter
Several years ago we acquired a small box of photos and memorabilia that
belonged to Samuel Nixon Coulter. They were found with his second wifes
things. She was Hilda Ellis. Someone in the family came across them and
decided the things were too meaningful to destroy so she started trying to
track someone down from one of the few pictures identified. She lives in
Calif. which is where Sam lived. There were two pictures that were tied to
us,
one of my father-in-law and his uncle (Walter Coulter and another of the
same Uncle and his wife. Also pictures of Roy and Matilda Coulter (he in WW
11 uniform at Tower Grove Park - in S.St. Louis, Mo. She sent this treasure
to us and it has been driving us crazy ever since trying to find the
rightful
heirs. We know that Sams first wife was Frances Fletcher from Ca. They had
2 children Paul Battelle Coulter who died in Pa (Hershey area) and
Georgia who appears to be about 7-8 years younger than Paul. Paul born in
1916 (my husband is also Paul which is how the young lady found us).
Georgia married a Jim Smith and had 3 children in Calif. Paul married
Sally, son Steve(we think). There are family pics & an article from the Police
Gazette (no date)RE: Sam as a promising young boxer. Many Coulter men were
engineers, pilots, etc. on the old steamboats. Think that Sam was also.
Several pics are of members of our family (my father-in-law) and we think
another branch that we haven't tied in yet. My mother-in-law remembered
meeting Sam Coulter many years ago. He was at her husbands grand-mothers
home but she didn't remember anything else. Know that Sam was born
in W.Va. & died in Ca. Paul was in the navy (my Paul in the army)died 1980
in Pa.We would really like to find the rightful owners of this material and
think also that there is a good chance we are related in some way. Help anyone?
