Happy New Year to All,
I thought I would give this mailing list another shot. I descend from a
family of Coulters that lived in West Virginia as far back as the
1780's. John and Mary Coulter settled in Greenbrier Co Virginia in the
early 1780's. They had come from central PA. They raised 8 children,
sons George, Robert, John and Moses, daughters, Sarah, Hannah, Jean and
Jane. George married Mary McClure and they stayed in the Greenbrier
Valley. Their children were: George, John, Charles, Jane, James, Mary
and William Arthur. Some remained in the Greenbrier area and some moved
to other parts of WV. Charles Coulter married Jane Donaldson and their
children were: George J. born 1828, Martha born 1830, Mary Jane born
1832, Robert born 1837 and William born 1843. George J. was my great
great grandfather and he died as a POW in Point Lookout, MD in 1865.
Robert and William also served the confederacy during the Civil War but
they were fortunate enough to have returned home to raise their
families. I have met many a descendant from John and Mary Coulter and I
would welcome anyone who has a connection to this family to let me know.

Happy Hunting,
Vanessa Dumrau
