Still no clues as to the parents of General Negley Coulter born May 29, 1862 TN and married Rachel Dunn born Dec 1864 Al. General is most likely a given name as there is no evidence of a military title. He has been found and identifed as follows (note that the initials "C" and "N" occasionally appear in his listings):

1900 Lincoln Co.,TN census 16th District
Gen C Colter, May 1862, TN
Rachel C (w), Dec 1864, AL

1910 Madison Co., AL census
General C Coulter, 47, TN
Rachel E (w), 47

1911/12 Huntsville, AL City Directory
Coulter, Gen N (Rachel)

1920 Madison Co., AL census
Genarl Coulter, 57, TN

Suspected parents are a James and Matilda (?) Coulter, NOI. Any enlightenment on this guy would be appreciated.
