Any connection of the Coulter/Black Association with the Rev. John Black who
established an early Covenenter Church in the Gettysburg (Rock Creek) area?
I have information connecting Rev. Black's group to both the "Upper Marsh
Creek" church and also that the church that stood at "Blacks Graveyard" was
razed and the Rev. Black's group was the beginnings of the Presbyterian
Church of Gettysburg. My fourth great grandfather was part of this group and
served on the building committee to build the original church in Gettysburg.
I am still searching for Archibald Coulter's beginnings. He was born in 1743
to unknown parents and an unknown location. He established himself on a 200
acre farm near Whitehall, PA at age 26 (tax records). He died in 1806 and is
buried in the "Pines Burial Ground" now part of St Pauls' Lutheran Chruch
near Hunterstown, PA. Other family members as well as his in-law's Josiah
and Mary (Dinwiddie?) Kerr are buried there. Lots of history but need to
confirm.
