Hmmm. My gggpa was James Coulter married to a Julia
according to their son Patrick's dc. In the 1900
census Patrick claimed to have been born in Ireland
[most docs support that] and arrived in the US in
1840. I've been unable to find any records to support
that.
The first I find Patrick is when he signed up for the
Civil War in Sept 1863 in Cairo Illinois. His unit was
disenrolled in 1866 in Georgia.
Other Civil War papers indicate he was in Philly in
1866, and then Northumberland and Schuylkill in the
70's and then went to Gloucester City in 1863 where he
died 10 years later.
What caught my attention was that your Andrew
emigrated with his brother James and was in Philly. Do
you have any specific info on his brother James? My
Patrick was born @1830.
