Hello Everyone,
Oh my, I would really enjoy sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner with my
husband's great-grandfather! His name was Christian Friedrich Wilhelm
KOEHLER / KOHLER / COLAR , born 22 Sept 1837, in either Melzow or Klinkow,
Brandenburg, Prussia.
Our family has sooooooooooo many questions that we would like to ask him! It
took us about 30 years (and a full subscription to Ancestry.com) to even
find his full name. While we know that he emigrated from Brandenburg,
Prussia in 1863, we'd sure love to know if he had any family members with
him. Oh, Christian, did you have siblings? If so, did they come to the USA
too, or did they stay in Europe? Your father was also called Christian, but
what was his full name? When & where was he born? When & where did he die?
Your mother, Maria BRAND, was deceased by the year 1868 (according to your
Wolcottsville, Niagara County, New York, USA marriage record). Did she die
in Prussia? Was she already deceased when you emigrated? Why haven't we
found naturalization papers for you? Did you gain your citizenship from your
1865-1868 service in the US Army? There are many more questions that I'd
love to ask this prodigenator (sp?) of our KOHLER family.
Well, there you have it. If you have anything to add, please let me know.
Blessings to each of you,
Leslie Kohler
