I believe Mary Ann Sloan was the daughter of William Sloan and wife Jane who came from Ireland to Belmont and Harrison Ohio around 1812

Estate papers of William Sloan (Harrison County, OH probate) He died intestate in Harrison Co. on 8 Jul 1859. Widow -- Elizabeth J. Sloan. Children and heris named: John Sloan, Mary Ann Coulter, Samuel Sloan, Moore Sloan, Jane Steel, Sarah Henderson (deceased) Her children were heirs and named:Samuel Henderson William HendersonJohn Henderson James HendersonJacob Henderson Mary Jane Henderson (all minors)James Sloan (had already received his share of estate in advance)Administrators: Samuel Sloan and Elizabeth J. Sloan

Thomas Patrick Coulter is listed in most censuses as Thomas but in 1870 as Charles. Have not found any good clues for his parents.
