He gives his birth place as Delmatia his birth date would have been about 1840 -45. So he would have been born into the Austro Hungarian empire. Another birth place he gives is Polomja and he also states he is a native of Trieste.

Delmatia probably meant the Dalmacija coast region of Croatia.
The Adriatic Sea is 485 miles (780 kms) in length.

In 1840-1845 Trst (c) Trieste (I) in Istria was part of the Austrian
Empire.
1867-1918 Istria (Istrija) was part of of Austria under the dual
Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
1918-1947 Istria was part of Italy, not Croatia or Yugoslavia.
And today Trieste is not part of Istria nor of Croatia.

In 1947, the Free Territory of Trieste was created .
Zone A (city of Trieste) was administered by Anglo-American forces
and Zone B by the Yugoslavs.

In 1954, the Free Territory of Trieste was abolished.
Zone B was given to former Yugoslavia and Zone A was given to Italy.

The Croatian telephone directory lists 60 surname Radovic' under
current Istria (which doesn't include Trieste, Italy)

Polomja could be many places because I don't think the spelling is
correct ?
