Can someone on the list answer the following for me? One of our family
group is trying to deciper the LDS records. Thanks.
Do you have any idea what something like "Zwe" in front of a surname
means? It seems to appear in front of a woman's name. Could it be "we
don't know her first name" or is it some from of title like "Mrs."? He
first thought it was a NAME but then it began appearing too frequently
for that.
Then the records started to change....instead of certificate format,
they seem to be in 2 page register format...like a book with right &
left pages and the event is recorded on one straight line. After what
seems to be the parents name, there is another column that says
"Genitor" with more names....is that identifying the grandparents or the
LINE the father or child comes from?
Then...it gets worse....I think in the early 1800's...the names are
getting strange. He's starting to see first names beginning with "J" or
"Z"....not Italian obviously...maybe German or Hungarian???
...what's the word?....Glagnostic???
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
