Evelyn,

In my old gazetteers from the 1840s there is only one Smislov. It was in
the estate of Chynow, aka Cheynow, in the old Tabor district. The estate
took its name from the town of Chynow or Cheynow, which was its seat.
This town was the parish for the village of "Smislow."

No Chovonov, which in the spelling of these books might be given as
Chowonow or even Tschowonow, is listed. Perhaps the "Chovonov"
entry in your document was a reference to Cheynow? A clerk might have copied it incorrectly into the record from another document, the old
handwriting can sometimes be hard to read.

Trying to locate a town listed on Grandfather, John STRAKA marriage license as to his birth place.
It is Chovonov or Chovonoc in Bohemia. Also Smislov or Simisloc in Bohemia as that is where his wife, Ann Josephine KOMAREK was listed as born there.
