Nicole,

These stories are dreadful, and would be unspeakable, but that
would badly serve the memories of those who suffered.

Tragically, there were several 'ethnic cleansings' that occurred
at that time. ('Ethnic cleansings' -what a term!- obviously
continue today!)

A friend of mine has written of her family's history...a story
that she can tell only because she was so very young when these
things happened, and therefore protected by her innocence from
knowing the full measure of what was happening. I know that you
would find her book of interest. It is not as descriptive of
the horrors. It is the story of a very little girl. Others who
didn't have her 'child-ness'--even her brother, were angry with
her
for not holding the silence. It is too painful for them. I'm
proud of her for speaking, and those who experienced these
things are also grateful for her witness when she appears to
speak to groups or through her book.

She has just returned from an amazing conference, and we talked
about the Sudeten atrocities, as we have talked about others.
She felt that it was an important conference!

Depending on how involved you are in the story that you linked
us to, you may wish to contact her, or perhaps contact the
Conference sponsors or speakers/authors.

I shudder with the knowledge that such atrocities existed
and continue, flag or no flag, even today!

We think that peace is easy, and it isn't!

Thank you for your link.
