In reply to Joe & Marianne
I have used the Prague & Pilsen Archives do work for me
I first wrote to Prague in March 1997, at this stage all the information I had on my family was my great grandparents names and dates of birth & marriage,I wasn't sure of their parents names, but did know the villages they had come from.
I had a fairly prompt reply 24.4.97 saying they had sent my request on to the Pilsen Archives.
On 27.9.97 Plisen Archives sent me a letter saying they had done 27 hours research
on my Hendl/Podlesak family since 1802, for a payment of US$172 they would send the information to me.
I received 9 pages of family information, B.D.&M. dates along with their parents and spouses parents, also some siblings.
Only problem it was written in Czech & German!!! I have since managed to have the papers transcribed.
I wrote to the Pilsen Archives in August 1999, this time I could give them more information on my family.
I didn't receive a reply until Feb 2000, this time it was 12 hours work at a cost of US$120.
Again wonderful information, in Czech & German, but I could now understand the relevant dates, villages etc.
The Archives send the information fairly promptly on payment, by registered mail.
Marie
