Hi Jackie:

Bozena translates as Beatrice; that was my mother's birthname, but she is
known as Bessie. Altzbeta is Elizabeth. Interesting that you have Coufal's
in your family. Do you know what town they came from? The ones in my
family came from Dolni Cermna, Bohemia and settled in TX.

On my grandmother birth certificate in 1878 in New York she was listed as
Bozena Coufal. I looked in a book in the library that had translations of
words that are use for genealogy and it said that could mean BABY.
Her name was Albertina but in 1880 census it said she was the son of Joseph
"Coufal and name was Albert. ???? Then cemeteryu said she wasn't buried
with
rest of family. That took two years of research to find out cemetery was
wrong. The cemetery read a 5 as a 3. It is really like being a detective.

Does anyone know if there are any obits for Czech in the NY area?

Working on Coufal, Cech, Godhammer, Timmer,
Thanks for all your help
Jackie
