I am so pleased to be able to tell you that the Archives of Ontario has
just acquired the Toronto Immigration Papers. These papers were kept by the
immigration agents at Toronto (some information is from the Kingston office
as well) and date from 1831-1891. For anyone searching in Canada you will
know that pre-1865 there are no passenger records. That is what makes these
papers such a wonder resource. They are being filmed and will be on the
shelf and ready for inter-library loans in February of next year. There is
no index but believe me, it is at the top of my list of things to do come
February.
