Dear Charles,
I don't have any of the Baca books but your surname reminded me of a village
in my region (I live in south-east Moravia, in the town of Uherske
Hradiste). The name of this village is Vazany. It's located west from my
town. Because no original Czech word contains the letter W (it's a "foreign"
letter) and because the letter V used to be often replaced by W (because
Czech V sounds like German W, but not like German V), I think your surname
was originally Vazansky. And Vazansky is a Czech word thath means "from
Vazany". This could, but doesn't have to, mean that your ancestors were
originally from Vazany. I looked up Vazany on the map and found out that
there are four another Vazany in the Czech Republic (one in the district of
Breclav, one in the district of Kromeriz and two in the district of Vyskov).
However, all these villages are in Moravia. Your ancestors could have came
from one of them, but this in only a thought.
Happy hunting
Marek Blahus
