Thanks so much to this list for very interesting messages and volunteers who spend their time and effort to help the rest of us.
I would love to find "when" and by what "ship" the following ggrandparents immigrated to the U.S.:
Jan J. JIRICEK (maybe JRICKEK)--- born April 24, 1842---possibly from the Prague area---came to the U.S. between 1860-1870 and settled in Iowa City, Iowa (he wasn't married when he immigrated so don't know if he came with any others).
Mary (Maria) BERANEK--- born between 1846-1851--- possibly also from the Prague area--- came to the U.S. between 1860-1870 possibly with her father, Albert. She settled in Iowa City, Iowa, where she married Jan JIRICEK.
I have scanned many microfilmed 'ship lists' but have never been able to find either one of them.
Thanks so much for any help or advice (Have not been successful yet in finding naturalization papers on any of these folks). Barbara McKeel
