Dear Diane:

Several years ago I wrote to the Map Library at the Library of Congress in
Washington,DC to get a copy of a map for Chicago just before the Great Fire
of 1871. I needed a neighborhood between Congress and 28th Street - the near
West Side. They sent me a copy of that particular neighborhood from 1869.
It was FREE. The citation was "Illinois, Chicago, 1869, 1:31,000 ,
Blanchard."

If you go to the following web site, maybe you can find out where to write:

http://www.loc.gov

My map does not show Wright Street (Avenue). I think it is either east or
just south of my 1869 map. In 1869 Ward 6 was changed from east of my
neighborhood (Ward 9) described above, to south of the Chicago River.

Hopefully, this will help some.
